When I open this app I don't do it to see war crime videos of desecrated bodies and massacred families. It's not that I don't care, but I don't care enough to see atrocities from 7,000 miles away in that level of detail, on repeat, every other tweet. The "For you" tab couldn't be more of a misnomer when something sensational is happening. I am still interested in significant world events and I appreciate citizen journalism, but I open this app for a casual digital party not for a war crimes documentary. Unlike those who claim they only want to see tweets from people they follow, I actually like the randomness introduced by the algorithm. I found lots of ideas, inspiration, and people from the things injected in my feed. My eyes became very good at filtering out the noise and nonsense, but then there are things my eyes are incapable of ignoring.
