@ElliotKaufman6 hopes President Trump is at least as sore about how the Iranians have been negotiating over the Strait of Hormuz.

I was in a synagogue last night in the center of Israel. As the prayer service continued, a tall handsome young man stood in front of the Torah Ark, his faced pressed against the velvet curtain, for what seemed like half an hour. When he finished, I asked why the long and fervent prayer. He said he was leaving that night to fight in Lebanon in order to defend his nation against Hezbollah, and he was praying for the success of his mission. As he left, the entire congregation stood and clapped and wished him well. To those outside of Israel praying for the Jewish State, try to imagine what life is like here. The daily dash to a shelter with small children or an elderly relative, the knowledge that a beloved son, daughter, spouse or patent is defending the nation and in harm’s way, and the well publicized threats from enemies to destroy us all. If you’re not here, you won’t directly experience these traumas. But try to imagine them nonetheless as you pray and let your feelings drive you to seek God’s mercy with even greater intensity. It is an important contribution that can be made from anywhere on earth.

Both authors speak persuasively about the compelling nature of the primary source material they translated and organized, based on many years of meticulous research together. Book available at amzn.to/4iSZ11G.

I just finished ‘The Philosopher in the Valley, Alex Karp, Palantir, and the Rise of the Surveillance State’ by Michael Steinberger. It was a quick, well-written, and fascinating read, in part a biography on Alex Karp as well as a deep dive on @PalantirTech. I found the book to be an honest portrayal of both. Definitely worth a read. I am a Karp fan. We need more high-profile people who are unafraid of speaking freely about important issues.

All official Jewish community events should have kosher food. It is not about whether the majority of attendees keep kosher at home. It is about holding a standard the reflects fundamental Jewish values.

@WSJopinion leads the way in clearheaded analysis, routinely offering behind the scenes news while also giving perspective of what it means or can mean. @ElliotKaufman6 does all this with an insightful interview re what could be a game changing path forward for @israel

@RationalSettler The MAGA isolationist wing is making a national interest argument- one that if not carefully picked apart may really resonate with the base (e.g., midterm elections). It's not always easy to sell to one people why they should risk their own troops/capital in the war of another...

@behrenk You should reread the post. I wrote this is a summary of America helping Israel *during* actual war, not a summary of American support of Israel.

We have hung the American flag in gratitude and pride this morning. In 1943 President Roosevelt refused to bomb the railroad tracks to Auschwitz to save millions of Jews during the Holocaust. In 1956 President Eisenhower wouldn’t support Israel’s taking of the Sinai and threatened to go to war with Israel. In 1967 President Johnson wouldn’t provide Israel with help in the Six Day War. In 1981 President Reagan criticized Israel for bombing Iraq’s nuclear weapons facility and refused to sell Israel F-16 fighter jets as a punishment. In 2007 President Bush wouldn’t help Israel destroy Syria’s nuclear weapons facility. In 2012 President Obama wouldn’t help Israel destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons facility and instead signed an appeasement deal with Iran. With all its support of Israel, including saving it with military support in 1973’s Yom Kippur War, America has a spotty record of helping Israel during actual war. When going to war, Israel has largely been left to rely solely on God. In 2025 President Trump largely reset the record by joining Israel’s attack on Iran, its evil regime, and nuclear weapons facility. God bless President Trump, God bless the United States, and God bless the American people. America is truly Israel’s best friend. May God end this war swiftly in victory and peace for the entire region. May God protect America and Israel!

@RationalSettler Understood. But if I had a friend who time and again consistently made sure I had what I needed during difficult times, that they weren't willing to fight with me when it actually got difficult should be a secondary point, no? I think this is a worthwhile distinction because...
