After watching Bayern tonight, I don’t want to see another Yamal vs Olise comparisons ever again. PSG could knock out Barcelona same way they knocked out Bayern today but they are never going to keep Yamal as quiet as they kept Olise inside his own Stadium.

It's crazy despite Yamal being so good there are some flaws in his game. He often gets overcrowded because he holds onto the ball for too long. This Roony guy created a perfect goal scoring opportunity for Araujo. There are many instances where he can release the ball a bit quicker. It's easy to scapegoat his teammates since Ferran is already very hated. He's still 18 and developing but he really needs to work on few aspects. Great players always tried to grow. If Barca fans already put Yamal above the club they'll suffer more in future. They must let him evolve.

There is nothing wrong in producing a movie showing real social, religious, political or cultural issues, it is the pattern all over the world. Hollywood, for instance, will forever portray China, Russia or Iran as bad actors. India will always portray Pakistan as a terrorists’ den nation. There are thousands of movies following this pattern, and more will come till the end of time. What these countries above do? They don’t come online crying that they are being stereotyped. They invest heavily in media and communication. Even Iran that tagged “Islamic” in its name, produce movies to counter narrative. That is psychological warfare. The question is, how many of us see movies as communication channel to tell own story to the world? How many of us see northern film producers, directors, actors and actresses as human beings, to begin with? Are they not the same individuals being insulted daily, despite the fact they have large followers on social media, which can be leveraged to counter narrative educationally? I know, as you know, many of them have written proposals to various institutions soliciting support to produce movies that will portray the good side of the North, can counter whatever narrative, with the supervision of intellectuals that can better the script and the output. What did they get? Nothing! We/they all prefer to see them/themselves dancing on the podium during campaigns. When fim village was about to be built in Kano, what happened? You know. The movies you see in the North, are produced solely by the producers themselves. Do research on movies supported by CIA, Mossad, CAN, etc. We see movies as mere entertainment, they see movies as communication channels, so they institutionalized them. Bash, our house (North) is on fire from all front, and this war is largely psychological. Until you, me, and everyone who is enthusiastic enough come together and change this, expect more. Netflix has found a new market, and they will usher in billions to produce more.

The reason why some Arewa people are angry about The Herd movie is not because we are denying the reality of banditry, far from it. It is about the dangerous consequences of profiling an entire ethnic group and region that has already suffered immensely from years of insecurity. I watched the teaser on @NetflixNaija, and even though I haven’t watched the full movie yet, the one clear problem that stands out is stereotyping. In the teaser, Fulani herders are shown crossing the road with their cattle, while a newlywed couple inside a car and other travellers drive by, then suddenly the herdsmen pull out guns, start shooting indiscriminately and kidnap everyone. This single scene paints a picture that is actually facile as it is dangerously inaccurate. The truth is this, it is true and verifiable that some of the bandits terrorizing innocent people and our communities are Fulani. We have consistently and openly acknowledged that, called them out, condemned their atrocities and demanded that authorities deal with them mercilessly. Yet the overwhelming majority of Fulani herders are innocent and also among the very victims that have suffered the most from these terrorists. Many have lost their cattle, their livelihoods and their families. So producing a movie to profile them all as armed kidnappers only reinforces a harmful stereotype that fuels suspicion, resentment and even violence against innocent people. Film and media carry immense influence, they shape global perceptions and frame narratives, especially about communities that are poorly understood outside their regions. Instead of the producers of The Herd helping the world understand the complexity of Nigeria’s insecurity, the movie falls into the trap of blanket judgment. When such an international movie, portrays a one-dimensional story, millions of viewers around the world walk away believing that every Fulani herder is a terrorist and that is how stigma is created. That is how innocent people become targets of discrimination and harassment. Before producing a film that touches on such a sensitive and complex national issue, the producers should have done intensive field work by engaging stakeholders, security experts, victims, researchers and even representatives of pastoralist groups to help them capture the full picture of the situation. I believe @AliNuhu’s Nigerian Film Corporation should have given proper guidance to prevent such damaging portrayals. In the end, all we are saying is simple, tell the story. Condemn the criminals. Call out the terrorists. But do not cast a shadow of suspicion over millions of innocent herders who have nothing to do with these atrocities. Our country is dealing with a complex security challenge and the last thing we need is media content that deepens stereotypes and fuels more division. The producers should have known better.

Extraordinary Ustaz 👳🏾‍♂️📿
Wallahi, If people like this man had access to the platforms many of our Northern influencers have, we wouldn’t be suffering this level of oppression and killings, as if our lives mean nothing. This man stood fearlessly, & told his Local Government Chairman, face to face that they are tired of living under constant terrorism and watching their people die every day while nothing is done. He told the Chairman openly that he must be held accountable. He also confronted the police officers, telling them that throughout this year, they have shown no serious effort to protect the lives of the community. He reminded them that they’re peaceful Muslim, not troublemakers, but when we are pushed beyond their limits, the pain becomes unbearable. Finally, he called on his people to stand united, support one another, and remain prepared to protect their community in any lawful & responsible way.
