Just last week, I shared a video of a rainstorm in Dubai where main roads were flooded & cars were floating. The storm was still ongoing. Comparisons were made and some views were mocked. 20-30 accounts, some more known than others, came out to abuse PPP, Sindhis and myself. How dare I point out the obvious? That even a city/State with a small citizenry and total residency that is 10 times less than Karachi, has to bear the effects of a natural event. Dubai regularly practices Cloud Seeding, even though its authorities strenuously insist that such a practice is not behind rain water flooding. And Karachi has infrastructural problems. It is a city that was handed over to a combination of ethno-fascist criminals & theocrat bigots for much of the last century and especially during 20 + years of military dictatorships. No political party can form a government without “accommodating” MQM that will struggle to win even a council level city today. Karachi’s ownership and responsibilities are divided - not just over 3 different levels of governments & 5 different political parties but also the MiliTab that controls vast areas of Karachi. And yet, only PPP is abused. And yet only the PPP mayor, councillors, politicians and chief minister are the ones tending to different parts of the city & mobilising scare resources to drain rain water and restore the main roads. Meanwhile the Haters are limited to screaming and abusing on digital and social media. So Thank you to all the abusers and PPP-haters for proving my arguments with your vicious and nasty responses last week.
