drf's beyer speed figures... it WAS a solid figure for many novice players. hell my dad loved charismatic and correct me if i'm wrong but charismatic had the highest beyer going into the derby that year. you see the bold number in the drf and it pops. unfortunately, the figures have been mass marketed and manipulated. now farms use beyers in stallion ads. bloodstock agents and buyers use beyers to value horses at sales. so when beyers are changed, weeks after races you have to raise questions. when numbers favor certain barns or outfits the validity of the number comes into question. the industry needs to do better. for the players. for the small and midsize outfits. for the turf horses. and especially for the fillies. it's time to walk away from beyers.
