@revenant_MMXX Selection bias. The people rating old OVAs are different from the people rating seasonal shows and have higher standards on average. Probably the former are comparing them to all-time classics and the latter are comparing them to anime from the same season.

Why do MAL and AniList redditors love to hate these old OVAs so much? Do they just hate fun? Are they that committed to the bit that current gen anime is so much more "well-written?"

@ReviewsPossum He brings that up on the same page - your cells organize to "repel invaders" through trillions of mindless mechanisms, not élan vital or dualism. This might seem obvious to you, so you assume he is saying something else, but it used to be more controversial.

By the way, your cells actually do care who you are. That's why they have to suppress your immune system when you get an organ transplant.
