In the perfect St. Patrick’s Day movie, The Quiet Man, Maureen O’Hara whispers something to John Wayne in the final scene, and his stunned reaction is 100% real. She never revealed what she said; the secret went with her. What do you think she whispered?

This foid brought a tiny baby into the chamber. Women are brats by nature. They make provocative displays and demand more and more rights until you put them in their place. Get them out of politics.

Horrified to see Hannah Spencer being subjected to this during her maiden speech - and sadly know its common place attack on women in public life. Attacking women for what they look like shows you fear what they say. Or that they can speak without your consent at all. It speaks more to your insecurities than them..

@SandyofCthulhu @CyberdyneC And the fact that their military headquarters, outside Paris, lacked a single telephone or radio. They relied entirely on dispatch riders which, once the whole of the north of france some 8 million people, became refugees, clogged the roads and the whole system came crashing down

Yes but the question is WHY were they defeated so resoundingly? They weren't outnumbered and their weapons were about the same caliber. I blame their awful government system - their cabinet & head of state changed like 40 times from 1919 to 1940. How could they have ANY consistent programs?

One of the problems I always had while being the "history guy" for the Age of Empires series was that everyone always made jokes about how terrible the French were at war. Whereas in fact, France was such a force to be feared that during the 1600s and 1700s all of Europe usually had to band together to stop her. It all goes back to France's shameful performance in World War 2 (which was pathetic). That humiliating loss has echoed through the years. But I had to explain it again and again and again to people. Then they would say something like, "Well Napoleon lost." Even the somewhat historically literate, who knew of Agincourt and Crecy, were surprised when I explained that France not only won the 100 years war, but they won it stunningly, laying waste to British Continental pretensions. I blame France's abysmal performance in the Franco-Prussian War, WW2, and Dien Bien Phu. Get your act together France. Be the France that terrified all of Europe and fought literally every other nation to a standstill in 1697.

My favorite European country, personality-wise, is Poland. They saw Nazism at its worst AND Communism at its worst, and seem to have learned their lessons in both regards. The Poles are super-loyal. The French dabbled with making them an independent duchy once (and reneged on the deal) and the Poles became allies for decades. Every anti-American knot and contusion got massaged out by the friendliness and kindness of the Poles on my sadly only visit there. They told me they remembered Reagan's part in Solidarnosc's eventual triumph. A cool movie worth watching on the topic is "Battle of Warsaw 1920". My favorite character in it by far is the evil commissar. One of the best war movies I've ever seen. A cool song worth listening to on the topic is "40:1" by Sabaton. (Yeah I know everyone loves the winged hussars. I do too. But 40:1 is great as well.)

@sauldavid66 No doubt you'll tell us the war was won by black airmen and postal sorters, leftwing activists, Indian wind talkers, women steelworkers etc., while the white men were stupid racists who couldn't have fought a war without Eleanor Roosevelt enlightening them about race and gender.

I can honestly say that for the first time in my 66 years on the planet I'm absolutely devastated by the result of a political election. I live 250 miles away from Manchester so it's highly unlikely that my day to day life will be affected by the decision of the voters of Gorton and Denton but this result is a symptom of the utterly dire state of this country - a country that has been drastically, callously and cynically altered by the actions of decades of governments promising one thing and delivering the exact opposite. We now have sectarian voting across large swathes of the country, with certain "communities" being targeted by unscrupulous so-called "leaders" who would hoist up their own Mother and leave her dangling in the rain if it meant they could squeeze a few more votes from the people whose foreign flags they proudly wave as they sell their souls to the Gods and prophets of those they refer to as "our people". It sickens me to my core. This is Britain. Our predecessors - YOUR parents, grandparents, great grandparents and THEIR parents going back thousands of years built a fantastic country. We had a coherent, structured and effective national "community". It worked. We were immensely proud of our achievements. We were the envy of the World. And now we have THIS. It's not just a symptom of years of mismanagement on a massive scale, it's proof beyond all doubt that we are being systematically, intentionally and effectively destroyed with intent by those we have trusted to put our best interests at the forefront of everything they do. And we appear to be stupid enough not to care. Last night's result proves that. I fear it's over.

@RupertLowe10 If a British passport makes you British, do you stop being British if you become stateless? Were the English, Welsh, Scotts, Northern Irish, not British before passports were even a thing? Passports make you a citizen of the state, not part of a nation of ethnic peoples.

A remarkable interview from the Reform Chairman disowning their candidate Goodwin. Reform's David Bull said - "You hold a British passport, you're British." No, David - a British passport does not make you British. It is so much more than that. Goodwin said being British is more than a piece of paper - he is absolutely correct. The Chairman said that's 'not party policy'. It is certainly Restore Britain's position. Of course a piece of paper doesn't make you British. That Egyptian Islamist nutter has a British passport. Is he British? No. Of course not. Restore Britain's position here is clear. A British passport does NOT make you British.

Most military observers who visited the beaches afterwards agreed that Sword was equally – if not more heavily – defended than Omaha. Inland an armoured division tends to be a bit tougher than a newly formed infantry division. But AI videos on Farcebook won't tell you that.
