What a delight it is that on this day, as I'm celebrating my 2nd Work-Versary at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB), I'm again honored to welcome a former colleague, now a new colleague, Dr. Bara Alaya, to Beijing, China! Bara was my office mate when I joined AfDB as a YPP, and he played a huge role in helping me settle in Abidjan. Congratulations, Bara, on your new tour of duty in Beijing!

.....BUT GOD
Two years ago, on this day 13th March 2024, I arrived in Beijing for a new tour of duty at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Stepping out of my comfort zone in Abidjan, West Africa, together with my very young family, into a far-eastern adventure.
Working for a 21st-century multilateral development bank with 110 member countries across the globe, contributing to building infrastructure for tomorrow (i4t) and being part of a high-performing team responsible for the bank's Infrastructure Investment Special Funds has been a truly worthwhile experience.
In these two years, I lost the only two men who wanted me to be better than THEM with deep sincerity-
I have reflected in the past months who these men were. I end up smiling to myself.
They anchored my faith and dreams: my grandfather, the man I am named after and whose name I carry with immense pride, and my father, the man who held my shoulders and reminded me that I was his son when I was near the bottom in class performance. Their assurance of who Benard William Chitunga is, has prepared me for the years to come.
I thank God for their lives.
Tomorrow, in my house gallery wall, i shall be mounting these two photos which will become my daily reminder of who i am. I am my grandfather! I am my father.
Beijing offered me solace during those difficult times.
Furthermore, Beijing raised my levels of clarity on what humanity can be and must be.
Beijing has consolidated courage in my soul to serve those who look up to me, to lead with empathy, and to champion the timeless values my grandfather and dad taught me.
At this moment, I feel at peace, humbled, and hopeful of what the next weeks, months and years behold.
A time such as this – my heart is full! BC
