This is great from Huddersfield, and from Manning himself. I wish this had been spotted and acted upon far earlier at Norwich - not because we might have won more games, but because on a basic human level he clearly needed far more support in such a pressurised environment.

@dan_brigham @BethnalYG The other annoying thing is that you can clearly see a squad and a manager enjoying trying to turn this around. You just don't need our most valuable player throwing in attention-seeking bombs like this right now. It sucks all the oxygen out of everything else we need to do.

@BethnalYG Of course we do still have the option of saying no, disciplining him, and only bringing him back into the squad when Clement think the time’s right. Sargent knows he has to play to make the WC squad. And he’ll still have 2 years left on his contract in the summer.

Very much this and the added complication that Josh very much will not won’t to wait until the summer given the World Cup approaching. Is keeping a grumpy Sargent worth it? But would require a big pivot to Jan plans to sell now.

Has it not been the case *all season* that Sarge wasn't actually supposed to be here really, and then trying to shoehorn everyone else into wide positions didn't work because they weren't wide players. Which, weirdly, was the situation when Sarge first came. We move on... #ncfc

Well, nobody can say we’ve not heard from Knapper now. One thing I think came across is that he is floundering a bit. Like he understands the role and the process in theory but has a problem with real world implementation. Clement appt might help in having a grown up in the room.

@beneast74 @NCFC_Analysis1 Doing it at the presser would’ve been a disaster, obvs. But it surely makes much more sense to have got the negative questions out of the way last week? Journos would defo have been asking about stadium plans, recruitment, injuries etc.

Isn't it mad that Knapper's chosen to do this now, rather than before appointing the new manager? Doing it now surely only serves to dampen the positivity from Clement's appointment?

@dan_brigham @NCFC_Analysis1 I think actually they might have got it right this time (for once). As a journalist if it’s was preannouncement the only line you’d be after is “who are you looking at” and “why are you doing the looking.” If he turns up to new manager presser he sucks all the positivity out.

@NCFC_Analysis1 I imagine you’re right, and fair play that’s he’s actually fronting up. But I’d be surprised if he was avised to do it post-appointment rather than pre-appointment
