@PetrikReads @MrsTad @conan_esq STRONG agree! There's not one boring word in the Dragonbone Chair, and I'd argue that the rest wouldn't hit as hard without that slow burn. More of this take please!

@conan_esq @MrsTad The criticisms about the intro of The Dragonbone Chair is one of the most overblown criticisms I've ever seen. It was a beautiful slow burn that felt riveting while written with utmost care. Loved this trilogy and the sequel series.

The Memory Sorrow Thorn series (1988-1993) is fantasy's missing link. It's the most successfully-achieved epic fantasy project done in the vein of Tolkien and it laid the foundations for the modern politically-savvy fantasy novel. This was a huge mistake.
