Fully support this vision, with this variation:🚶‍♀️ #walking when it's close, 🚇🚍#publictransport when the weather isn't great, 🚗#EVs when you need to lug stuff around, and🚲#biking for everything else :)

Boosting safety of all transport modes (incl. walking and cycling) is among the first order of business for #transport #decarbonization. If you build it (like a bike lane), but it's not safe, they won't come -- or they'll keep driving. #ttdc23

With 📈 violence in Latin American #cities, we need to build better walkways that are well-lit and free of harassment. 💭 Fernanda Rivera, Director of Public Transportation & Licensing for #MexicoCity @LaSEMOVI during #TTDC23

@_dmoser So perhaps the solution is designing incentives and policies that don't make EVs more attractive than current ICE vehicles, but make ICE vehicles less attractive, to preserve modal balance.

@_dmoser Falling costs associated w/ EVs means more driving compared with other modes (all things equal), and this will become supercharged when autonomous driving actually becomes a thing. So less walking and biking, more congestion, etc. Not necessarily a good thing (as you pointed out)

Do policy makers realize that cars will go the way of phones with loads of indistinguishable budget models competing for fractions of the market?

Can't underestimate the importance of context when it comes to expanding transport mode choice. In the US, we need to make it easier for people to choose walking. In rural India, we need to give people the choice to do anything but walk. #ttdc23 @WBG_Transport @WRIRossCities

Honest question: to boost transport inclusivity, are city govts wiser to spend millions retrofitting existing public transit systems, investing in demand-responsive transport solutions, or just, say, paying for 2 free daily Uber rides for those with mobility challenges? #ttdc23
