Maintaining that code for 8 months without it exploding? Apparently, it’s nearly impossible for AI. Alibaba tested 18 AI agents on 100 real codebases over 233-day cycles. They didn't just look for "quick fixes"—they looked for long-term survival. The results were a bloodbath: 75% of models broke previously working code during maintenance. Only Claude Opus 4.5/4.6 maintained a >50% zero-regression rate. Every other model accumulated technical debt that compounded until the codebase collapsed. We’ve been using "snapshot" benchmarks like HumanEval that only ask "Does it work right now?" The new SWE-CI benchmark asks: "Does it still work after 8 months of evolution?" Most AI agents are "Quick-Fix Artists." They write brittle code that passes tests today but becomes a maintenance nightmare tomorrow. They aren't building software; they're building a house of cards. The narrative just got honest: Most models can write code. Almost none can maintain it.

@Dosin418854 The Japanese standard of living is much nicer than in China. People live longer. You can drink water that comes out of the faucet. The income is higher. Why is that not the case in China? What is holding the Chinese people back?

Yet China per capita is relatively poor. Either the Chinese people are incompetent or the system in place is hindering them. I know Chinese people are not incompetent, but they have to be to justify the existence of the CCP.

My quick 2 cents on ONVO event. Two things I curious the most about ONVO, new leadership team and distribution network. I think what is really important in the ONVO event is the new leadership. The president, Ai Tiecheng, a NIO user, who does not come from the automotive industry and lacks a technology background. From the product introduction, we know that many NIO NT3 components are being used in the ONVO car; therefore, I don’t think Ai is heavily involved in engineering and R&D. Ai's previous work experience at Disney was often mentioned by William, implying that Ai’s role is closer to the users. I found his presentation at the event quite plain. However, the demo videos shown at the event were well-made and different from NIO's videos. It seems Ai is more expressive through these videos. I think his role is more like the general manager in EU plus brand and community building, the product planning and development is likely still led by William. We need more time to see how Ai operates and how this new organizational structure works. #ONVO

I laugh when I hear people say that Tesla would be successful licensing FSD to other OEMs. Tesla is good at a lot of things, but long term partnership is just not in their DNA. Literally every major partner Tesla has ever worked with have been burned at some point. - Panasonic in the early days - Fleet operators like Hertz/Avis in the past year - Nuevo León & an entire group of suppliers preparing for Tesla’s Mexico plant opening - Now all the OEMs that’s about to adopt Tesla’s NACS standard I bet you they found out about the news same time we did. It’s just not a great way to build trust. It doesn’t mean people wouldn’t do business with Tesla, but it does make the relationship very transactional.
