Soccer is the best sport on earth by far, in my humble opinion and the world tends to agree. Although the knicks will always be my #1 team and basketball was my first love, the NBA product is simply not as good. Once you learn the sport and understand the degree of difficulty of what these players do with the least dextrous part of their bodies for 90 minutes straight without timeouts you learn to appreciate the nuance, imagination and dynamism of the game you begin to understand The typical american sees a ball being kicked and thats it, as if a RB switch to the LW who is running full speed behind the opposing CM, 80 meters away landing on his left foot and barely moving 1 meter away after collection is something normal. Its not. When regular ppl play basketball or football it looks the same, just on a much lower level. When a regular person plays soccer, it looks like a bunch of kindergartners just running around. It isnt even the same game. Thats how much technique is required. Its not about stats but more so about quality, technique and imagination The only team sport where u can get completely dominated the entire game and still win Leciester City’s dont happen in other sports Random 4th division teams with plumbers and cab drivers beating manchester united in the FA Cup dont happen in other sports Its also the only professional sport without a height, size or athleticism requirement to be elite Messi is 5’6 160lbs and hes one of the GOATs. A game of moments, where one moment of magic can change the course of history for an entire nation and its people The problem is the American mind doesnt value artistry, beauty and skill as much as physicality, and scoring points. Its as if seeing someone get tackled or dunking a basketball provides cheaper dopamine than zidane’s touch in midfield or ronaldinho’s flicks and tricks. Once americans open their minds and try to understand the game like they do with american sports things will eventually change For me, its not close. Soccer 1, basketball 2 But ts ALWAYS the New York Knicks over everything
