I'm not sure why men think this is ok to do to me. Don't follow me, don't throw a camera in my face and expect me to oblige. It's not OK.

Saturday's Together Alliance march was incredible. We know that the far-right are looking at the USA - the mass arrests, the political violence, the deportations - and they see a blueprint. Here's how we stop them:

Dear @zarahsultana I’m not one for incitement or violence. Unlike you. But on behalf of the decent Far Far Far Right Community, I accept your challenge. You and me. Sportswear & headgear. Naked. Name your time and place. (Be aware, I used to fight for the British Army.)

Premier League fans deliver damning verdict on VAR. 75% of 7,946 fans polled by the Football Supporters’ Association “didn’t support the use of VAR”. Too long, too forensic, too much of a joy killer, fans say. Findings shared with Premier League and PGMO. 92% of fans surveyed “agreed” that “VAR has removed the spontaneous joy of goal celebrations” (82% of them “strongly agreed”). 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” with the notion that “VAR makes watching football more enjoyable”. And 83% of those watching on TV. 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” that “VAR decisions are generally resolved in a reasonable amount of time”. Echoed by 83% of those watching on TV. Only 18% agreed that “VAR has improved the overall accuracy of refereeing decisions”. 72% are “concerned about the expansion of VAR beyond its current remit”. 79% “strongly disagreed” with the suggestion “that the match-going experience is better with VAR”. 67% “strongly agreed” that they preferred “watching games that are played without VAR to games with VAR”. 84% “strongly support” goal-line technology. 34% “strongly opposed” to the idea of a challenge system (two per game per team). “These findings back up the FSA's previous survey in 2021, where fans expressed misgivings about the introduction of VAR,” says Thomas Concannon, @WeAreTheFSAPremier League network manager. “The vast majority are reporting the same concerns five years on - the loss of spontaneity when celebrating goals, and an overall worsening of the match-going experience. We have shared the survey results with the Premier League and PGMO, and look forward to discussing its findings with them.” Fans surveyed of all PL clubs and all ages (Under-18 to 65+).

Nobody's forgotten what it was like before because 1) we're not stupid and 2) we watch football that isn't Premier League so we still appreciate the joy of football without VAR. Also VAR doesn't have to be here to stay. That's Webb's mantra in briefings & it's an insult to fans.

David Lammy is pushing plans to curb our ancient right to trial by jury — the biggest assault on English liberty, particularly free speech, in over 800 years. The Justice Secretary claims this radical move is the only way to tackle the 80,000-case Crown Court backlog. He is wrong. The Institute for Government shows Lammy’s reforms would save just 2% of Crown Court time — not the 20% he claims. On average, more than 64 Crown courtrooms sit empty on working days. That is the real cause of delay and denial of justice — not jury trials. Lawyer after lawyer has warned that if the Government presses ahead with this sinister, authoritarian plan, it will undermine public trust in the criminal justice system. Send the Government a message by signing our petition to protect the right to trial by jury 👇

Matthew Wright is referring to me not just as ‘racist’ but calling me THE racist now. I’m not sure he realises that it’s still not an argument (and Islam is still not a race), and that he has pretty good contacts in ‘the media’ including his own show on national radio in which he is very free to amplify his own views. He is very welcome to pitch to the Telegraph just like I did. I wonder what he’s insinuating. I did not realise this time last year when I was dealing with angry teenagers and very young adults at uni that I would go on to encounter men older than my own parents who suffer with the same inability to put forward arguments. I genuinely did not expect to find that these tactics were considered convincing by anyone other than sophomoric university students. Alas.

🚨NEW: Green and Labour Party councillors in Darlington have rejected a motion proposed and supported by Conservative and Reform councillors. The motion sought to protect single-sex spaces for women and ensure the council fully implements the Supreme Court ruling across the town

🚨 Holding the BBC to account: Green Party activists and candidates made horrific comments, calling Jewish people “abominations”. God forbid had this been Reform activists it would have led the news cycle behind only the war in Iran. Yet because it’s the Greens? The BBC did not even cover it.
