A former 1st grade student emailed me today. He had moved from Egypt and spoke no English when he came into my room. He said he remember starting to comprehend English when I read Charlotte’s Web out loud. 💜 Books are mighty powerful.

Visited former student Beth Quarles's neat new bookstore "Paper Hearts" which opened today in Little Rock's Pettaway Square at 408 E. 21st Street. It will be initially be open on weekends in January (Sat. 10-6) & (Sun. 10-4). @Gabe_Holmstrom @DowntownLR @LT @Lindsey_millar

One of the saddest things I have seen tonight is that the Jonesboro Public Library has lost over 50% of its funding in a millage decrease. Bay Public Library which is a volunteer run library is closing too. (Not due to a vote though)
