Police in Central Park thought they were hunting down a skilled pickpocket after multiple visitors reported their phones mysteriously disappearing without anyone noticing a thing.
But while officers were questioning people in the park, a raccoon suddenly ran up, grabbed a phone, and exposed itself as the real thief. After chasing it through the trees, police found a hidden stash of stolen phones tucked away in a raccoon’s hiding spot.
They later announced that anyone missing a phone in Central Park could check with the station to claim it.

A few people asked me to make an image of how much irrigated farmland would use the same water required for ALL ChatGPT usage, including every part of the process. I did a botec and my best guess right now is that inference uses about as much water as training, and power generation uses ~5x as much water as the data centers themselves, so it looks something like this. The water cost of manufacturing chips is marginal compared to how much water they use over their lifetimes.

@Yellow_Harpoon @NotGlidus Companies are not willing to pay to desalinate the saltwaters for use in these ai data centers. Simultaneously, you cannot put them underwater either as that would increase the temperature of the ocean. (iirc china tried)

@Yellow_Harpoon @NotGlidus The third party in all cases is water treatment facilities which normally would be sent in majority to be disinfected and sent to houses so they have clean drinking water but now mega corpos are sending most clean water to ai servers. And yeah so servers need water 24/7.
