Last week Red Bull built a gigantic ski jump on a ski slope in Akureyri, Iceland. Ryōyū Kobayashi flew 291 meters and was in the air for over 10 seconds. The video is magnificent.

@bf_aversion It's one of the, very similar, House spider (Eratigena) species - probably the rather localised Eratigena agrestis. @chalkspring is very familiar with these and may be able to confirm. The name Hobo spider is mostly used in the US, where this species is introduced.

@bf_aversion You're right, Zainab. I can't be 100% sure which species from this photo - it's quite a dark specimen - but most likely Noble False Widow Steatoda nobilis. We have more information on these species in our Factsheet 5 at britishspiders.org.uk/factsheets.
