@shawnyeager @mitchellh Your app / agent ↓ Framework / service / platform (LangChain, SaaS agent tools, email APIs, etc.) <- this layer ↓ LLM provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

@mitchellh @bfockter Without naming names (or do), what layer are you refering to? The SaaS-with-AI-bolted-on crowd? I'm spending a lot of time looking at where trust does and doesn't work.

I'm dying for pi-mono-style minimal library that handles the hard parts of email (auth, syncing with local state, etc.) and gives me an opinionated way to add agentic loops on top of that. I want to build my own agents and logic and guardrails, I don't trust vendors right now.

@thorstenball for CC they could just have left it at the Bash tool. But instead there’s Write|Edit|Read|WebSearch etc.

Some people haven't stared into GPT-5.3-Codex' sdead dark eyes long enough. They haven't looked into the abyss deep enough to notice that down there there's only sed, rg, nl, cat, and awk. It hasn't hit them that if you take a handful of Unix tools and combine it with intelligence that there's essentially nothing it can't do.

Lately, whenever I open this app and see the latest tricks, and hacks, and notes, and workflows, and spec here and skill there, I can't help but think: All of this will be washed away by the models. Every Markdown file that's precious to you right now will be gone.

@trq212 isn’t this kind of an upgrade to MCP notifications ? same underlying thing. MCP could already notify the client and vice-versa

@mitchellh @shawnyeager Wouldn’t you share data if you’re connecting to whatever LLM provider? Also by restrictions you mean all the tape that —bypass-dangerously flags skip

@shawnyeager Data safety mostly, but also they have opinion ideas and restrictions on what AI should do, and I want to do whatever I want without giving them the keys to the kingdom.

@karpathy @shikhr_ I’ve put off doing anything with OpenClaw because I thought it was expensive (eating Claude tokens for simple stuff) + a security nightmare + useless outside an Apple ecosystem, e.g. no mac mini. But reading this I feel I’m behind again…

Thank you Jensen and NVIDIA! She’s a real beauty! I was told I’d be getting a secret gift, with a hint that it requires 20 amps. (So I knew it had to be good). She’ll make for a beautiful, spacious home for my Dobby the House Elf claw, among lots of other tinkering, thank you!!

early window into Ghostty’s internals via AppleScript
Mitchell Hashimoto@mitchellh

Ghostty 1.3 is going to have a preview of AppleScript support. All windows, tabs, splits, terminals are exposed via AppleScript. For macOS users, this satisfies some of the most common requests: broadcast commands, automatic layouts, jump to working directory, etc. PR here: github.com/ghostty-org/gh… I also think this is an incredibly important feature to ship early/now so agentic tools like Claude and Codex can take advantage of a scriptable Ghostty on macOS. I still plan on a generic cross-platform scripting/plugin API (two separate things), but integrating with native features like AppleScript is entirely in scope of the Ghostty mission and like our Shortcuts integration it importantly lets you connect multiple sources since AppleScript can control multiple applications from one script. Note I normally don't ship features so down to the wire with a release, but this one is very isolated in its impact and I'm going to explicit document it in the release notes and website as a preview since I fully expect we're going to iterate a lot on the objects and commands exposed. From a security perspective, Apple already prompts for permission to control different applications so we're covered, but there is a master kill switch you can put in the config, too.

Pay close attention to proactive AI agents. This is one of the wildest applications of agent harnesses I've seen. The MIT paper introduces NeuroSkill, a real-time agentic system that models human cognitive and emotional state by integrating Brain-Computer Interface signals with foundation models. "Human State of Mind" provided via SKILL dot md. The system runs fully offline on the edge. Its NeuroLoop harness enables agentic workflows that engage users across cognitive and emotional levels, responding to both explicit and implicit requests through actionable tool calls. Why does it matter? Most AI agents respond only to explicit user requests. NeuroSkill explores the frontier of proactive agents that sense and respond to implicit human states, opening new possibilities for adaptive human-AI interaction.
