@peterfox I made a side project in react(with inertia laravel), now I work a project that is react for frontend, node.js on backend. I copied all the things from laravel, commands, jobs, requests, notifications. All using @cursor_ai

Software Devs: What would it take you to change language? I often get approached for new roles, sometimes completely outside of my usual domain of PHP. In the age of AI. I'll be honest, I'm less worried about switching over than ever before. Learning new things is now a lot easier, yet I still cling to the idea that I have a niche set of skills that I want to continue growing.

I'm doing a market research on AI impact on Laravel job market. Any real cases of AI-related layoffs? Hiring freezes? Budget cuts? Shortage of new jobs? I asked around at Laracon EU, at local meetup in Lithuania, and online. The answers surprised me. In short, jobs seem to be fine. Most of them. For now. Surprisingly, almost all answers were positive and energetic. - "We're doing fine, same clients, same projects" - "We're hiring like crazy, shortage of senior developers is real" - "My clients still want my services, nothing changed" So those senior devs with comfortable positions and working for stable clients are doing fine, with still same shortage of GOOD SENIOR devs. Of course, for NEW jobs, it's probably a different story, especially for juniors. Some devs told their companies stopped hiring, for now. And also, devs say there's some internal pressure to deliver faster with AI. But not too big yet. Most managers/owners don't fully realize the possibilities yet, it seems. Will shoot a bit deeper video in a week or two.

This is probably the lowest I've been since a few years. Can't find freelance work, was super close of getting a good job in a startup in Switzerland, I failed B2B sales, and I don't know how I'll pay rent this month. Worst of all: my second baby is coming next month. I did tons of outreach that I should have started earlier. But it'll likely won't bring any result for at least a month. So yeah, if you're looking for a senior developer with 10+ years of experience (18 in total, 13 as a pro), tons of skills, Laravel + ecosystem expert, LLMs expert, design expertise, business expertise, etc. Feel free to reach out.

@MrPunyapal I am working in nodejs now, all I do is ask cursor to the services just like laravel. I have successfully created queue, cache, request validation, commands, scheduler.

Developers, serious question: If you had to restart your whole journey and begin again as a complete fresher, what would you choose to learn first? Language, framework, path, whatever. what feels like the smartest move right now? I’m genuinely curious. Tell me yours in the replies.

Pay by Link is not supported in India. That means we lose out on sales that could've been made with a single click. Somehow the Indian Government makes it increasingly difficult for us to make money. But yeah sure take 30% of whatever we make no problem. :) @stripe

We moved Refactoring UI over from Paddle to @stripe's new managed payments product last week and although it's a bit early to say for sure, I am pretty confident we are already making more money. Never would have believed it but the checkout does seem to convert significantly better, and I think it's entirely because of Link.

Whenever possible, avoid trying to create new Carbon instances from existing ones. Might not be the behaviour you expect🐞

I have no idea what people are talking about. I update Cursor as soon as updates are available. Sometimes, I end up in agent mode, but that's it. I use Cursor pretty much like since the late 0.x versions.
kyzo@ky__zo

guys at @cursor_ai can you please slow down with changing the ui every 2 days? i'm like constantly confused between the agent and editor, feels like the buttons change every day. just make a decision and stick with it becaus re-learning ui every day suuuucks

So you're saying that majority now use Shadcn for design in Laravel. But it means they all use *React*? What about devs who are back-enders and wanna use Tailwind without React/Vue? They go for Flux for design? Or Filament? Or still Bootstrap? Or are such devs extinct?
