Just returned from the Kumbh Mela. The biggest takeaways for me were a) the size and scale, just unimaginable. b) the huge amount of energy and goodwill. People walking for miles and miles, with a smile, no complaints and in good cheer, if not some degree of exhilaration. c) a realisation that Sanatan truly resides deep in our beings across vast swathes of society. The realisation that we are a civilisation not simply a religion that is comfortable with multiple contradictions, chaos and disorder and yet is able to comprehend, experience and hold on to the centrality of our existence. d) finally an understanding why 10 centuries of invasions and colonial rule has not been able to decimate the Hindu faith. @narendramodi @myogiadityanath @ShefVaidya @NAN_DINI_ @ARanganathan72

@bhaskar5591 @SandipGhose The point is not the past, what she has said about the future is concerning. She said that West Bengal cannot become a manufacturing hub. This implies that in the next budget, madrasas could receive Rs 10,000 crore. Shameless

Differ with #MohuaMaitra about Bengal’s Industrial history but tend to agree with her that bringing heavy manufacturing industries to #WestBengal difficult now. Services is the way to go. But what is the state of service industries - healthcare, education, tech, films? Why Bengalis rush to South for jobs, higher studies and medical treatment? Worth pondering. Maybe @Ram_Guha and @kaushikcbasu can answer !!

For the simple reason that if you apply for citizenship of India and follow the proper process, you will be granted citizenship. Problem is with people who come in illegally into the country. Sheikh Hasina is a political asylee. Every country has such categories. You can Google for more.

Dear মোটা ভাই, You are absolutely right that India is not a "Dharamshala".India is for Indians. Not for any foreigner. 1. Adnan Sami is a Pak Muslim, why was he given citizenship? 2. Why is Sheikh Hasina not being expelled from India? 3. Why is Taslima Nasreen being kept in India?

Tamilnadu seats will be increased from 39 to 59 and UP seats will be increased from 80 to 120. The difference now is 41 and later it will become 61. This is the real motives of BJP-Modi. And after that they have pocket veto of CEC and Delimitation commission. — Kapil Sibal Ji

No Bengali in West Bengal is legally bound to follow any order barked in Hindi language by anyone, armed or unarmed, uniformed or non-uniformed. Knowing Hindi is not a pre- condition of being Bengali. Knowing Bengali is a pre-condition of speaking to a Bengali in Bengal.

Unprecedented desperation of BJP in full display. 2029 will be the final nail in the coffin for them and no amount of manufactured survey by Godi media can salvage their existence.

The arrest of Vinesh Chandel, co-founder of I-PAC, barely 10 days before the Bengal elections, is not just alarming- It shakes the very idea of a level playing field. At a time when WB should be moving toward free and fair elections, this kind of action sends a chilling message: If you work with the opposition, you could be next. That’s not democracy- that’s intimidation! What makes it even harder to ignore is the double standard. Those facing serious corruption allegations seem to find protection the moment they switch sides, while others are swiftly targeted at politically convenient moments. People are not blind to this anymore. When institutions meant to protect democracy start feeling like tools of pressure, trust begins to erode. On one side, the Election Commission. On the other, agencies like the ED, NIA, CBI stepping in at the most sensitive time. It creates an atmosphere of fear, not fairness. India has always taken pride in its democracy- loud, messy but free. But today, many are beginning to ask: are we still that country? This is bigger than one arrest. It is about whether our institutions remain independent and whether every citizen, no matter their political belief, can participate without fear. Because once fear replaces freedom, democracy becomes just a word. To Amit Shah and the BJP’s power structure- Be in Bengal on the 4th and 5th of May. Come with Gyanesh Kumar and every agency you deploy. Bengal will not be bullied, will not be silenced and will not bow. This is a land that answers pressure with resistance and it will show you exactly what that means!

The other side of the story 👇🏿 Bengal is on fire with the SIR campaign – and it’s exploding every single day! House-to-house, BLOs are uncovering a rotten scam that has shaken Delhi to its core. One single photo linked to 17 different voter IDs. Dead women who “voted” in 2024. A 90-year-old grandmother’s photo shamelessly pasted on a 25-year-old young man’s card. The Election Commission’s AI facial recognition has gone berserk catching hundreds of duplicates with a single click. Same face, different names, different booths, different districts voting like a well-oiled mafia machine for decades. And the border? Absolute chaos. At Hakimpur-Tarali, lines stretch through the night — Bangladeshi infiltrators, bags on shoulders, children in arms, crying and singing as they’re pushed back. These are the ones caught. God knows how many more slipped through the secret routes. BSF caught 500 on record on 18th November alone the same people who were pulling rickshaws in Kolkata just yesterday, now shamelessly saying, “Dada, bus… abki toh ghar hi theek hai.” On top of that, fraudsters are running rampant calling people, threatening them:
“Fill the SIR form or go to jail! Give us your OTP right now!” Even the scamsters have found a new way to loot Bengal. This isn’t just cleaning a voter list.
This is ripping out 50 years of dirty, illegal vote-bank politics from West Bengal’s guts. And this fire? Courtesy: @Eternaldharma_

I think its time someone told the Maharashtra Chief Minister @Dev_Fadnavis - that the Ghazni-like plunder must stop in the State. Everyone I know who knows him - speaks highly of his intellect and intent. But that matters little when actions of the Govt speak otherwise.

I think you’re very quick to rush to judgment young man. Please read the article carefully. The land parcel in MMR has to be a minimum 10 acres for this project, and 25 acres outside MMR. So just stop foaming in the mouth and spreading misinformation. Your neighbourhood parks and open walking spaces are not going to be swallowed up by this project.

This is not a SMALL aberration. It’s huge and going on for several years. The entire leadership chain is compromised. And the worst thing is the response from TCS. An incredibly bland statement full of virtue signalling. Pathetic. You can imagine the amount of fear amongst employees that 7 policewomen in disguise had to be infiltrated to uncover this piece of Love Jihad.

Don't make fun of @TataCompanies - it is India's most reputed group. @Suhelseth will totally agree with this. One small aberration in one small office can't take away the great work they do in the world.

A US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz - which Trump has now announced ... will basically mean that India will not be able to get our ships in and out of the Persian Gulf. This, therefore, becomes an even bigger energy crisis for us ... The way out, something which Trump wants, is for countries like India to play a role in resisting Iran, clearing up mines and defending the strait of Hormuz from Iranian attack. In other words, potentially being in the line of fire in an area where Iran is locked and loaded with cruise missiles, armed kamikaze boats, airborne drones, mines and probably semi-submersible attack drones. This is the last thing Delhi will want to do. Our wartime arrangement with Tehran to allow a limited number of ships to pass seemed to be working fine, all things considered. But if the situation worsens ... and an energy crisis begins impacting the lives of citizens, there may be little choice but to join the Americans in a fight to clear the Strait, in other words, ending up being a participant in this war.

@NajamAli2020 Question is not a “small” toll. There are many spots in the world like Strait of Hormuz. They all start demanding tolls, you can imagine what happens to the global economy. Terrible precedent.

I am genuinely struggling to understand this logic. If the rest of the world is willing to pay a small toll to Iran to keep oil flowing and stabilise markets, then why does the U.S. feel the need to block all shipping, especially when it is not dependent on that oil?
