@SorchaEastwood Speaking truth in the arena of power. Calling out hypocrisy wherever and whenever it happens. Lagan Valley is very lucky to have you representing them

Will the real Keir Starmer please stand up? Is it the man who said that his govt would tread lightly on the lives of people? The man that said he'd have a decade of national renewal? The man who said we'd get better and then engulfed us all in this while the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. We deserve better 👏

@SorchaEastwood Your commitment to call out elitist entitlement is refreshing in the political world in which we find ourselves. Jobs for the boys and honours for the buddies have no place in the modern world. Our political world needs more principled people like you. Thank you

This is why I do what I do- I believe in fair play, getting on in life and that everyone should have a good life. But the elites are laughing at us- raking in the cash, chums getting plum jobs while my constituents can't pay their bills. I don't act from ideology- I act for what's best for people. My message has struck a chord because no matter your political opinion, we all agree that our lives are not getting better whilst the elites are thriving. Something has to change. I think it's worth building consensus on that so that all of our people have better lives and that power is held to account. No more elites shafting the little guy and rubbing our face in it!

Gordon Greenidge and Barry Richards walk out to bat for Hampshire in 1973. I don’t envy whoever was the county pro who had to open the bowling against them.

Left home to watch cricket at the club, but accidentally picked up the wrong sunglasses. Now I have to spend the afternoon looking like Macho Man Randy Savage.

Today is the good old 24th of April again. As some of you may recall, Sachin Tendulkar and I share the same birthday. It seems to happen every single year. Between us, we’ve won the World Cup, scored 34,357 international runs and taken 201 international wickets. We’ve even managed to take more 5 wicket hauls in ODIs than Warnie. So happy birthday to us @sachin_rt — and thank you for your contribution to our wonderful and very longstanding partnership 😉 And, as an aside, thank you also to so many of you who have kept me company here and in the real world over the last year. It’s been a lot of fun. Your friendship is very much valued. Hopefully, I’ve kept you entertained. Thank you in particular to my extended family at @SWCCcrocus and @surreycricket and also to my newfound friends at @rajasthanroyals — cricket and our community make such a positive difference to my life. It’s a joy. So thank you all.

@bbctms @finnysteve @MattPrior13 If there are genuinely any big changes for the first Test of the summer, I’ll be very surprised. There’s probably an opening batter place up for grabs and a spinner spot up for grabs. Other than that, I’d bet it’s business as usual.

@WG_RumblePants It is certainly worth mentioning McKinney. Like Crawley, he is an opener and is in Div 2. Crawley's figures, in comparison, are 60 runs and a 15.00 average. Zack needs some big scores, you would think

The County Championship Div 1 top English scorers so far are: Jamie Smith 396 runs 99.00 average James Rew 379 runs 75.80 average Tom Abell 337 runs 56.16 average Joe Clarke 273 runs 68.25 average Oliver Cox 266 runs 88.66 average Ben Foakes 255 runs 127.50 average It’s also worth mentioning Ben McKinney in Div 2, who is the only opener amongst them, and who has 290 runs with a 96.66 average. I wonder if we will see one of them taking Crawley’s spot.

@The_Grumbler I had exactly the same thought. I’d rather have someone like Michael Carberry on the board.

Cricket is a sport for all… By that I mean all the same people who’ve been running it for decades & have put us in current posit’n At a time of rapid change with a need for re-invention, we get same old people representing the same narrow set of views telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2026/0…

@WG_RumblePants Being able to recall the excellences of past players allows us to compare, contrast and admire some (very few, IMO) of the modern era. Happy to have a discussion about EdrichJ vs DuckettB

Cricket, to a large extent, is as much about nostalgia and history as it is about modern sporting excellence. As fans, we love reminiscing about the players we grew up watching, the historic series that thrilled us and the commentators that called the most memorable moments of the game. We love arguing about whether modern greats match up to legends of the past. Nostalgia is an incredibly powerful emotion. So, be honest — would you rather relive the cricket you fell in love with or watch today’s players at their peak?
