@Ben_Aaronovitch Supervisor or PI (principle invesigator) interchangeably. I did my PhD in zoology at Aberdeen. We also had an Advisor who was a desperate staff member to act as our advocate. It was also common to have a secondary supervisor on some projects too.

Academic question. PHD student at Aberdeen University - what is the title of the person they report to - their tutor? Mentor? Or it doesn't work that way?

@thereadingpara @aj2squared I worked at said uni for a few years. I know that graduation photos are taken in the courtyard gardens, it's quite beautiful. He could have waited till after the ceremony to make the same public gesture and still let her have her moment.

It only took a few days but glad to see Newcastle Uni have finally deleted that awful video of the proposal on a woman’s graduation day after they were absolutely ratio-ed on it. Not a good look from them at all.
