@ABridgen Utter crap. 40000 miles on one set of tyres on my ev, barely any brake pads used during the first four years due to regen braking and, oh yes, lighter than most suv’s! Do your research.

On a serious note - Electric vehicles cause far more road wear and tear than internal combustion engine cars. This is because they are considerably heavier due to the batteries than their ICE equivalents. Electric vehicles also produce more toxic particulates in the air due to heavier wear on the road surface , tyres and breaking system - again due to the extra weight. So much for EVs reducing city street air pollution - they don’t.

@jabberba @blaiklockBP Really don’t think so. 40000 miles on a full set on my Polestar. Never had that mileage on any previous car.

@blaiklockBP And tyres wear out 30% quicker. That's a lot of expense. Plus battery wear/degradation.

Did anyone else wonder why all those potholes appeared all of a sudden? There is your answer: 2 million of them. Electric cars caused twice as much road damage as combustion-engined vehicles because of their extra weight.

@AvonandsomerRob Yes. I’ve driven an ev for five years now. I’d say generally discount the claimed mileage by about 15% / 20% and you won’t be far off in the real world.

One of the things that puts me off getting an EV is that most vehicles seem to achieve much less than their claimed range in road tests. I've heard owners struggling to get 200 miles from a car with a published range of 300. Do EV owners find the same drawback in practice?

@YTimesMotoring @NationalHways @HighwaysNWEST Sadly it’s a very regular thing 70 one gantry, 60 the next, then 50 at the next them straight back to 70 for absolutely no reason. It makes a mockery of the intended use.

@MerrynSW Absolute rubbish. 43k miles before needing a change on my all wheel drive Polestar 2.

Tyres on EVs last around 30% less time than those on ICE cars.. All about weight. Also of course leave a lot more micro plastics behind them as result (or so a tyre man tells me..). Maybe it's just a different kind of pollution.

Starmer gets his legally protected pension yet the rest of who are trying to do the right thing and save for our future get hammered by this utterly crap chancellor.

Watch this reduce the amount people pay into pension which will reduce investment into the stockmarket and reduce any sliver of any sort of growth. Totally counterproductive. The worst chancellor and government I have lived under in 54 years.

@O2ApolloManc I am disgusted that on Thursday my son was totally belittled by your door person who would not accept him carrying EpiPens. She made him wait, losing contact with his group whilst a medic was called. If she asked properly he had medical notes with him. Appalling!
