Secretary Dixon began his career in 1996 as a Correctional Officer at Lancaster Correctional Institution, before rising through the ranks to lead the third-largest state correctional system in the nation. During his tenure, Secretary Dixon has been instrumental in helping FDC navigate obstacles and deliver successes that have enhanced the Department and strengthened Florida’s public safety mission. Congratulations, Secretary Dixon, on your well-deserved retirement, and thank you for your dedicated service to the State of Florida.

As I’ve said multiple times before on this platform, good luck finding a statement from me saying I don’t support reducing property taxes, because such statements don’t exist. We need to reduce property taxes, but it needs to be responsible.

On May 21, just hours before Florida’s 39-day Atlantic red snapper season was set to begin, a last-minute federal court ruling temporarily halted our Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) for Atlantic red snapper state management. This unexpected decision has caused widespread confusion and frustration for private anglers, charter captains, and for-hire operators across the state.   The FWC wants to make it clear: this ruling ONLY affects Atlantic federal waters.
