As a young person or graduate in Cameroon now Would you prefer to get employed in a well establish firm or organization or go for a new firm or start up which has great potentials to be big in the next 5 years?

Same with Cameroon, in as much as I love Cameroon together, but there's reality and there's my opinion. My fear is, even if we stay apart, there will still be serious problems between Bamenda and Southwest people. Very divided people. I prefer Federation, two states.

@mbaisong I sympathize with you and can imagine how isolating it is in a francophone country. Issue is Nigerians have no business together. We have no shared ideology , values, language, aspirations etc. It's impossible to be a nation..Our best case scenario is a split.

Many people will choose an established firm because it feels stable. But in the corporate world, stability is often an illusion. You can be laid off at any time and they never think about this. A better way to think about it is optionality. Generally, young graduates do not fully know what they want from their careers yet. So your primary motivation should be putting yourself in a place where you can learn and experiment. In established firms, you are hired into a narrow function and spend years growing within that box. Your progression will be structured, slow, and largely dependent on the organisation’s pace. Your income may only increase marginally (5-7%) over several years. But startups are different because the environment is less predictable. And they have a significant upside. You will wear multiple hats, identify & solve real problems, make decisions, and gain exposure that might take a decade to access in an established company. Their learning curve is steep and your growth compounds quickly if the company succeeds. The risk is higher because it's more likely to fail than succeed but the experience you will get from it will surpass what you could get from an established firm. On a more practical side, you should join a startup when they have between 30-90 employees. Outside of that range it might be too risky or already too structured.

Tbh, as a Ngraffi person I have noticed we are always the first to bring up dangerous tribalistic views only to later on cry foul when others clap back.

A lot (not all) North Westerners are good at being victims. If it’s not Francophones it’s south westerners. They never see their own tribalism and prejudice towards others. It always “oh why me?” While being hateful and divisive asf.

Apparently it's "banter" and the rest of us are too emotional. Coming from the same people who lost their shit because someone said they work hard and not smart.
