Summary of Factual Inaccuracies
1. Medusa’s Origin as a Beautiful Maiden: Incorrectly claims Medusa was "born of incredible beauty" and "not always a monster." In early Greek sources (e.g., Hesiod), she is born a Gorgon, inherently monstrous; the "beautiful maiden" narrative is a later Roman addition by Ovid.
2. Phorcys and Ceto as Sisters: Falsely states Phorcys and Ceto are Medusa’s sisters. They are her parents; her sisters are Stheno and Euryale.
3. Medusa as a Priestess Destined for Athena’s Temple: Claims Medusa was set to become a priestess due to her purity, which is a modern interpretation, not supported by ancient texts.
4. People Visiting Athena’s Temple to See Medusa: No evidence in ancient sources supports the claim that people visited Athena’s temple to see Medusa because of her beauty.
5. Medusa’s Hair Rivaling Athena’s: The specific claim that people said Medusa’s hair rivaled Athena’s is a modern embellishment, not in ancient texts.
6. Acrisius as a Titan Defeated by Medusa’s Head: Misidentifies Acrisius as a Titan (he’s a mortal king) and falsely claims Perseus used Medusa’s head to defeat him; Acrisius was killed accidentally by a discus.
7. Medusa’s Intentions and Trust in Athena: Claims Medusa had "only the best intentions" and trusted Athena, which is speculative and unsupported by ancient sources.
Hey @maccas, I can't login to my account using FB, which means I have no access to my rewards or birthday voucher. It's been doing this for a while now, is there any fix?
.@newscomauHq@brielle_burns3 would be nice to se some basic fact-finding/editing going on. You switch between calling them a driver and guard, despite the fact it says clearly on the screen "Guard Announcement". Drivers rarely make announcements. news.com.au/finance/work/e…
Hey @Qantas, when I purchased an insurance policy the email was addressed to "Jarryd Mr Pearson". When I questioned it, I got the attached response. It really isn't good enough that a "standard feature" is a breaking of basic English grammatical conventions.
Hey @TransportforNSW, the line name changes aren't in the least bit confusing. We now have two Inner West lines, and the T2 renaming makes no sense. I'm hoping this is just a typo and isn't the actual end result. transportnsw.info/news/2024/2024…
