@bigrob262 But I think it's heavily based on the Big 12 championship meet and Emmaculate scored more points at that meet than Jane. So I guess that trumps 2 NCAA records set this year.

Does the Big 12 have a rule that if you’re the top performer in something nationally, you can’t get that award at the conference level? 🤔

@employeenmbr12 I’d be willing to be that they didn’t want to give Jane the Outstanding Freshman of the Year award *and* the Top Performer of the Year award—I don’t agree with that reasoning either, but it makes more sense than weighting two wins in one meet over 2 NCAA records

It’s so disheartening to see byu fans who don’t even watch the meet complain that Emmaculate Jemutai was named performer of the year over Jane. Jemutai won 2 titles.

@bigrob262 It’s not for the year, it’s for outdoors. So that means no xc or indoor. Jane still set two outdoor records, but the voters favored the head to head matchup and the championship. Valby interestingly only contested the 5000. No one in the sec pulled a championship double
