@SenatorSlama This is a great case study. Starlink recently tried to claim this on a national level and is lobbying the fed to cancel the rural infrastructure fund. Wireless will never be as good as wired and it would be a mistake to not keep building hardwired network infrastructure.

Generally, I love Starlink. It’s fast, reliable, and my husband and I run our law firm from home with it. HOWEVER- it’s monopolized internet in rural areas. Today, we received notice our internet bill is going up another $500/year. Don’t like it? Too bad. You have no other options. Nebraska gave up $300 million in federal rural internet funding for fiber because “Starlink fixed it.” This was a mistake that will cost Nebraskans dearly in the long run.

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

@SawyerMerritt @Starlink Starlink pricing sucks if you have any other options. It's great only when you are out of cellular range. In cellular range you can just buy some proper antennas and grab a good cellular connection. I'd rather they still work on giving more wired internet.

SpaceX also expects to begin launching its third-generation satellites later this year, providing a 10x increase in downlink capacity and 24x increase in uplink capacity compared to the current second-generation Starlink satellites. @mcsquared34 In the past sure but not anymore. They don't think about the tradeoffs when they make regulations that make housing too hard to build, or businesses too hard to start, or in general make more problems than they solve because regulators don't suffer the consequences of bad policy.

A guy on the street getting heated after his grey Toyota picked up some overspray while a worker was painting the red curb on the sidewalk. They put plastic on the car to protect it but a little paint still got through. He’s pacing back and forth saying he just dropped twenty five thousand on this car and clearly frustrated about the situation. The worker keeps going about his business. What do you think.
