Today, we released Our North, Strong and Free: A Renewed Vision for Canada’s Defence. This updated defence policy strengthens our Arctic sovereignty, invests in the members of the @CanadianForces, delivers new capabilities, and increases defence production here in Canada.

I’m deeply grateful for this chapter and I look forward to continuing to serve Canada and Canadians in this new capacity.

I also want to thank Prime Minister Carney, former Prime Minister Trudeau, my colleagues, and all those working behind the scenes in Parliament for their commitment to public service. Our country is better for it.

Serving the people of Scarborough Southwest as your Member of Parliament has been an incredible privilege. Today, I'm stepping down to accept the appointment of High Commissioner for Canada in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Today we celebrate 67 years of #NORAD 🇨🇦🇺🇸 Since 1958, the Americans and Canadians from the North American Aerospace Defense Command have trained, operated, and led together as one team with the single purpose of defending the homelands. To mark this milestone, 🇺🇸General Gregory Guillot, Commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM, and 🇨🇦Lieutenant-General Blaise Frawley, Deputy Commander of NORAD, addressed U.S. and Canadian personnel gathered at Peterson Space Force Base before the ceremonial cake cutting. “Throughout NORAD’s history, one thing has always remained constant—the professionalism and commitment of our people.” - Gen. Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there. My team delivered flowers to retirement residences in Scarborough Southwest to celebrate the strong and wonderful mothers who’ve given so much to their families and communities.

Today marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day. We honour the brave service members who fought to defend our freedom—and remember their courage and sacrifice. We will never forget their service.
