Capeweed research update: weed pressure was massive..the yellow in the aerial image is all capeweed. Control has been excellent.. mixes and timing need tweaking but we are nearly ready..residue samples have been sent off to gain permits.. we are one step closer

The capeweed in lentil trial is underway ..thanks to @SAGrainTrust for the funding. This project is looking at pre and post emergent control options spread across three sites to test solutions on different soil types and varieties.

1/2 Stunning original aerial of harvest. I whooped out of the opshop, carefully lifted it from a cheap modern frame & said a wish, hoping this would have where & who written on the back. 99% on photos have nothing. But today my cup of tea in the crane cup turned my luck.

@johngladigau Great stuff john and robin, A long time coming and need to divide this years results by the bad years but reckon you’re on the right path. May not be double six’s this year ( maybe a 6 for yield and a 4 for price ) but combine with some-on farm storage and the numbers stack up

Yeah - we’d take a lentil crop like this every year in the Northern Mallee.

Spent a couple of hours at our #WarakirriCropping Hopetoun aggregation. Proud of the job our farm and agronomy teams have done this year. It’s one out of the box for the Mallee 😍

My river system explainer for city folks. All the spring rain fell to the north side of the Great Dividing Range which is why all the dams are at >100% capacity. Water must be released from them or the dam walls will end up collapsing and decimating everything and everyone. 1/3

Love when things are visual. Same Faba bean variety, same sow date, 3 different canopies with similar number of flowering sites & plenty of time & growth left in season Yield, lodging & necking? Ps. It’s not seeding date, or PGRs @theGRDC @far_australia @JasonBrand Legumes SW Vic

Soil acidity taking it’s toll on grain legume prod’n. Areas in specific soil types down into the 5’s. Area traditionally grew wheat / canola and it’s not until legumes enter the mix that pH becomes evident. Lentils with no lime history vs lentils with lime applied 2020 + 2022.
