I saw THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU last night... The good news is it feels like a capital M movie, not just a TV show stretched to fix the IMAX screen. The stakes and scale are both way bigger. The action is epic but grounded (not a lightsaber in sight). The score by Ludwig Göransson absolutely slaps — especially when it it gets all dark and synthy on the Gotham City-style crime planet Shakari. Some of the creature design is also really cool, with a mix of practical and special effects throughout. But the bad news is that it doesn't feel like a Star Wars Movie™️. It never taps into that special feeling, aside from one scene at the end that gots bogged down in prequels-style CGI. Mando also barely has a character arc, though if you're a Baby Yoda fan he gets a LOT of focus here. Rotta the Hutt is instantly forgettable. And they did my boy Zeb dirty.

John Travolta is experimenting with an incredibly powerful look. I will be monitoring this situation

as a male cinephile, I may not understand these sex scenes. but by god i promise i’ll rewind them again and again and again until I do!
