@Rainmaker1973 Uranus is about 2.5 hour hours away! Voyager 1 is between 22 and 23 light hours away!! That make is even more amazing!!!!

Fun fact. Voyager 1, currently over 15 billions miles away (roughly 2.5 light hours), still operates using 69 KB of memory, 8 track tape and Fortran code written in 1977.

@VoteGloriaJ Thank you for standing up for all - and hope you will stay safe! In my retirement, I take my planetarium to schools (for free) but in today's world, I have been threatened by church members for teaching falsehoods. This murder is due to hate being glorified by the GOP.

I’m heartbroken and outraged. What happened in Minnesota was a targeted political assassination—an attack on democracy itself. No public servant should live in fear for doing their job. I know all too well what it means to be targeted for your beliefs—

And let the splashdown parties begin! Lotsa free food and the liquor was flowing nonstop at the Crest Hotel across from MSC. Talk was the Webster Police were having a field day going out of their jurisdiction to pick up the drunks. I left early. Way too many handsy dudes and all those chicken bones floating in the pool were disgusting.

@poppy_northcutt Thank you for sharing your history!!! Christmas eve 1968 changed my life and my career - as a farm boy who longed to leave, watching the moon pass by made me think I could do anything. Thank you for all that you have done - with you and the team, I would still be farming.

I was very busy Christmas Day in 1968 in Mission Control doing trajectory work for the Trans Earth Injection maneuver. The whole 20 hour period when #Apollo8 was in lunar orbit was particularly exhausting. There were only 2 of us who developed the Return-to-Earth Program (aka the Abort Program) covering our console while the spacecraft was in the moon’s sphere of influence — a total time period of roughly 46 hours.

@contactlight69 There was a time when we dared great things and had a plan to accomplish them! I was so inthralled by each mission even while living in a rural location were most thought it was a waste. I ended up working at NASA - I love seeing your post - they make me smile!
