Mission miracle: Our son, who would not eat hotdogs or mashed potatoes before his mission, recently ate THREE hotdogs smothered in mashed potatoes in Brazil and loved them. The gift of tongues is real.😋😆

@LycedG I love driving my kids to school. When I drop them off I tell them I love them, they’re awesome, remember to say little silent prayers throughout the day. The last will be driving soon, and I’ll miss it.

Mi papá me llevaba al colegio todos los días. No hablábamos mucho. Me reí.

@Latterdaytruth My understanding is God has a plan for us, like we have a plan for our kids. We see their potential, and we try to guide them to make choices that will lead them to become who we know they can be. Hopefully we too will make choices that lead us to the potential God sees in us.

I wonder how do we feel about this future brothers & sisters? Just finished major church cleaning today and thought about this. Would it be better to offload this invitation to our AI driven robot future or do we continue doing it ourselves to retain an aspect of humanity found within this sacred duty? Women will never understand the simple joy men get from just existing. A man can arrive in a new city, walk around for hours, and enjoy discovering his surroundings. The moment a woman joins, it becomes a nonstop agenda: cafés, restaurants, shopping, tourist spots. She constantly needs something to keep her entertained, while men can be perfectly content doing absolutely nothing. Grab a drink. Sit in the town square. Watch the world. Hours pass. Perfect. Being a man is undefeated.

The dishwasher broke My wife said "good thing we have the home warranty" I said nothing I've been paying $62 a month for three years for this moment $2,232 for the peace of mind that when something breaks someone will come to the house and tell me it's not covered I called 47 minutes on hold They sent a technician Arrival window: Tuesday through Thursday between 8am and 5pm My analyst delivers faster than that And he still hasn't fixed the gridlines He showed up Wednesday at 4:47pm Looked at the dishwasher Opened the door Closed the door Touched something underneath Said "not covered" 90 seconds That's faster than my bank lets me prove I'm human I said "what's covered" He said "the motor" I said "what's wrong with it" He said "not the motor" I said "convenient" He said the service fee is $75 I paid a man $75 to open my dishwasher, close my dishwasher, and say two words My analyst could do that And he's not even that good I called the warranty company back 38 minutes on hold Requested the policy 129 pages I read all 129 pages Because that's what I do The coverage section is 34 pages The exclusions section is 58 The business model is right there In the margins Where nobody reads Except me Page 91 says "all mechanical and electrical components essential to appliance function are covered under standard service" Page 104 excludes control panels A control panel is an electrical component essential to appliance function Their own document contradicts itself 13 pages apart I highlighted both Sent them an email Subject line: "Plz fix. Thx." Attached both pages No other context Took them three days to send a technician Took them 4 hours to call me back when I found the loophole Funny how that works They covered the repair Waived the $75 And I canceled the warranty anyway Because a contract that contradicts itself isn't a contract It's a suggestion My wife said "so we're canceling" I said "we're canceling" She said "and the dishwasher" I said "fixed. They're covering it." She said "how" I said "I read the policy" She said "all 129 pages" I said "the exclusions section starts on page 47. The coverage section ends on page 34. There are 13 pages between them where they hoped nobody would look." She looked at me Then she said "you're unbelievable" I said "I just saved us $744 a year and got a free dishwasher repair. I'm not unbelievable. I'm thorough." She looked at the ceiling The dishwasher works now The warranty is canceled And the policy has been read By at least one person Probably the first Make common sense common again Plz fix. Thx. Story time. I moved to Utah in the 90s, many years before I joined the Church. A Mormon guy at work asked for coworkers to come help him and his pregnant wife move on a Saturday morning. I drove from Park City to Sandy to help him. I was the only one from the office who showed up. There were two of his friends there, which I guess were from his EQ. We go up to this guy's apartment--it's on the 4th floor, no elevators--and he's packed NOTHING. He has a few cardboard boxes and a clothes hamper to move all of his belongings to the U-Haul down below. It took the four of us ALL DAY in the valley heat to move this guy. At the end of it, we are exhausted. This guy's wife brings to us 2L of warm Walmart brand root beer and a tiny pizza. This guy isn't a pauper, mind you. He's a senior software engineer at our tech company. Lesson: I will do anything to help my fellow man, but I won't help you move.

For one reason alone shy little Carlos regretted his family's moving to the Tiny Town of Miami Arizona. That reason was the Kid Next Door. The boy's name was Bobby. He was a full-blooded Native American, the same age as Carlos. Same grammar school class but a lot bigger. Now Carlos was himself half Irish, half Cherokee, but apparently that wasn't good enough for Bobby so every day after school he would Chase Carlos home. Most days he would catch him and beat him up, but this is the rest of the story. Right next door to the Cottages where Carlos and Bobby lived was a gas station. The owner's name was Jack, and every day, Jack would stand there and watch the sad little scenario occur. The bully chasing the smaller boy and catching him and pounding him. Jack may have known that Carlos’ father was an alcoholic who was mostly oblivious to his son's problems. Anyway one day Jack decided it was time to end. In he went to Carlos's mother and told her please stay in the house today, and do not interfere. She agreed and sure enough right on schedule, little Carlos came running past the gas station toward his house. Bobby the bully was not yet in sight. Jack the gas station man, stopped Carlos and he said “I'd like to have a word with you” politely but urgently. The little boy explained that he must go inside right away. Bobby was chasing him and would be here any minute. Jack said “you're not going anywhere you're going to stand up for yourself” and fight this boy right here right now. “But Bobby was too big!” Carlos pleaded. Jack would not listen. “You're not going to run away anymore” he said. The more he encouraged Carlos the braver the little boy got. So brave, that when Bobby the bully arrived, Carlos actually jumped in and wrestled him to the ground. It was a brief tussle at the conclusion of which it was Bobby who cried, “I give!” and as Jack had known in his heart from the start, Bobby would never chase Carlos again. In fact, perhaps predictably they became friends. At first glance this story sounds like one of those mountain into a mole hill instances of which childhood is comprised. An insignificant episode in a life's greater story. But for Carlos it was ultimately significant, and more the times he turned around and stood his ground made him what he was to be forever. Normally, you would never have heard of the little boy who let a big bully get the best of him were it not for the man he became. World middleweight karate champion from 1968 to 1974 and the star of movie box office Knockouts like a “Force of One” and the “Delta Force” and a “Code of Silence” but now now and Hereafter whenever you hear his name, I hope you will picture a scared little boy. A scared boy trying to outrun a bully, and a concerned stranger who put an end to the running of Carlos Ray Norris, TV's “Walker Texas Ranger” Chuck Norris. And now you know the rest of the story.”

@yavanikashah Last month I caught up with an old friend I haven’t seen in 30 years. It was exactly this. As we get older, it’s more difficult to make good friends, but man is it great to have good friends!

Hot take as a woman who actually has really wholesome female friendships: male friendships are kind of… insane. two men can hang out for 4 hours, say maybe 17 total words, share a bag of chips, send each other one stupid reel, and go home like “great catching up bro.” no emotional recap. no post-hangout analysis. no “did I say something weird when I laughed?” they can go 6 months without talking, then meet again and immediately pick up the exact same joke from 2017. women meanwhile will do a full psychological autopsy on a slightly delayed reply. I’m not even judging. I’m just observing a level of emotional minimalism that feels both deeply confusing and… kind of powerful.

@wndyW1LL0w All 4 of my kids were 3+ and grew up to be very smart, confident, and capable contributors to society. Potty training is one of the most frustrating parts of being a parent. Just hang in there. They’ll eventually get it.

Getting on tiktok just to see a post with thousands of comments shaming moms who haven’t potty trained their kids by 3….im trying. it’s so hard. One of the twins just doesn’t get it yet. But she’s always been a little bit developmentally behind. Idk I feel like a failure.

As someone who has been aloud hater of the new FSY pamphlet, I just went to a beautiful Devotional with Brad Wilcox where he bore a strong testimony and explained everything behind the new FSY pamphlet. It really helped me. If interested, I'll share some notes below:

I think I'm going to advise against my kids getting their wisdom teeth taken out. I wish I hadn't gotten mine out. I feel duped. Why would God have us all grow teeth that need to be taken out?
