Change ringer. I will mostly tweet about work (digital preservation) + on occasion about bellringing, birds and the city of Bath (not necessarily in that order)

It's disappointing to learn that, by 2035, @BCPCouncil hopes to demolish the impressive #BranksomeEastViaduct as part of its Infrastructure Delivery Plan. The estimated cost is £2M. The ten-arch brick structure, dating from 1888, is described as "life expired" by the Council.

@GrumpyGit1960 @theHREgroup @BCPCouncil It was part of a triangle that enabled trains from Bournemouth West to connect with the main line running east to Bournemouth Central (and beyond). The S&D would have run through the current train depot and joined the main line running west at Branksome

@UntoldLives @AdrianGregory20 I think that the war must have had an impact, although it is not a topic that I have explored in detail. I know that this article refers to library assistants, but there was a mention of female recruitment in the Reading Standard of the 12 June 1915; via @BNArchive:

@SZamparutti @StephenMarsh66 @exRAF_Al There is a (different) photograph in Gerald Gliddon's "Somme 1916" volume of VC's of the First World War that lists F. J. Edwards in the place of James Hutchinson, and I've certainly been caught out by that in the past. 2/2
