Trump was a reaction to Obama politically, culturally, emotionally. You may hate that, but it’s true. When people say Obama was scandal-free, they mean aesthetic vibes. When they say Trump was the worst president ever, they also mean aesthetic vibes. On actual policy? The story is a lot more complicated, and a lot less convenient for the morality-play version of history.
