#PowerAlert2 Monday, 24 February 2025 Stage 4 loadshedding will continue to be implemented until 5:00 AM on Tuesday. Thereafter, loadshedding will be reduced to Stage 2 until further notice. This decision follows the successful recovery of eight out of ten generation units and the restoration of 3 808MW from units that tripped over the weekend, with an additional 1 146MW expected to be recovered overnight. While the recovery of the emergency reserves is progressing well, further replenishment is required to reach sufficient levels. These positive developments support our ongoing focused efforts to stabilise the power supply and ensure reliability. Currently, unplanned outages are at 13 690MW, which is 690MW higher than our summer outlook base case of 13 000MW. Ongoing planned maintenance stands at 7 245MW, in alignment with our summer period maintenance strategy, that is at increased levels in order to prepare for winter and meet licence and regulatory requirements. Eskom will provide the next update on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, or as soon as any significant changes occur.

#PowerAlert1 Sunday, 23 February 2025:: Eskom regrets to announce that Stage 6 loadshedding was implemented at 1:30am due to multiple unit trips at Camden Power Station and will continue until further notice. This measure followed the implementation of Stage 3, necessitated by multiple unit trips at Majuba Power Station and a unit trip at Medupi that resulted in a loss of 3 864 MW in generation capacity, while planned maintenance accounted for 7 506 MW. Additionally to replenish emergency reserves and prepare for the week ahead, Stage 6 loadshedding was essential. A media briefing will be held today at 11:00 to provide more details and updates on the power system.

Friday, 31 January 2025: Following over 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply due to the success of the Generation Recovery Plan, Eskom has encountered a temporary setback. As a result, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from today at 17:00 until Sunday midnight. Eskom will give an update on Sunday 2 February 2025.

#LoadsheddingUpdate Thursday, 21 March 2024: In order to replenish the low dam levels at the pumped storage power stations, Stage 3 loadshedding will resume from 20:00 tonight until 05:00 on Friday. Thereafter, loadshedding will be suspended again from 05:00 on Friday until 16:00. Eskom will provide an update on Friday afternoon or if any significant changes occur. Unplanned outages remain stable at 14 366MW and planned maintenance slightly increased to 6 307MW. The anticipated electricity demand for this evening peak is 25 672MW.

With sufficient emergency reserves, loadshedding will remain at Stage 3 from 16:00 today until further notice. Eskom had previously communicated that Stage 4 load shedding would be implemented at 16:00. Our Power Station Managers will continue to work around the clock to return more generating units to service and improve the available capacity. Evening peak demand for tonight is 26 701MW. Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur.

This combined with the need to replenish the pumped storage dams in preparation for the week ahead, necessitated the implementation of Stage 6 loadshedding from midnight until further notice. Our teams are working diligently to return the generation units back online. Eskom will communicate further should any significant changes occur.
