I don't understand the grave dancing on QVR's downfall. It's tough to build any business and sad to watch a few bad months sink 5+ years of hard work. I hope everyone there lands on their feet. I really don't get the pile-on against @bennpeifert personally. He's contributed tons of education to the discourse on options/volatility on this hellsite. You can dislike his politics/personal choices without cheering his downfall.

@meremrtl I see your perspective, and I do think it does apply in cases of extreme relative value, some names never trade below offering price. But the real money is made in the nonobvious gray areas, and that lunch is definitely earned

$NKTR "Time" is a constant catalyst from a fundamentalist view. The DCF discount runs whether or not anyone is watching. So, if NKTR drifted DOWN in a real "data desert," that isn't absence of information. It's investors quietly revising probability of success lower, or absorbing the $92 secondary. Calling it a desert hides the actual signal and invents an arbitrage that isn't there. There is no free lunch.

It is logically incorrect to blame the $NKTR price drop on a "data desert." Since investors already knew there would be a quiet period after the Phase 2 results, that gap in news should already be reflected in the stock price. A real shift in intrinsic value would only occur if the company announced a timeline delay or the need for extra trials. Those events would actually impact the time value of money and increase research costs. The most likely explanation for the decline is that the recent data did not fundamentally change the probability of success for the drug. The initial price jump was likely caused by temporary momentum and market inefficiency. Once investors processed the news, the stock returned to its previous level. Additionally, the company sold a large amount of new stock at $92.00 per share. This created a natural price ceiling and diluted the value of existing shares. So, calling this move a "data desert" is a dishonest way to frame the situation. What do you think?
