Want to help us advocate for a bird-safe UofT?If you see a dead bird, take a picture and send it to us using the link in our bio (fill out a report) or DM us. Collecting more data specific to these buildings will help us get these windows treated faster! #birdsafeuoft

Spring migration is at its end but that doesn’t mean birds stop hitting windows. Birds like this house sparrow at Max Gluskin House can collide with windows year round. The more data collected and shared, the stronger the argument becomes to get these windows retrofitted

The hummingbirds are back. This building applied a bunch of hummingbird decals to the inside of the windows to prevent bird strikes. Don’t do this. Zero percent effective. Check @featherfriendly and @flapcanada for effective ways to bird proof #WorldMigratoryBirdDay

@eyeonthefly I'd pay to watch a coordinated attack by redwinged blackbirds at Ontario place.

Birds don’t deserve to die like this when simple solutions exist to prevent it. This ovenbird was found at 95 St. George street after colliding and falling into a grate. #makeuoftbirdsafe #UofT #MigratoryBirds

Sapsucker at the Max Gluskin courtyard beneath the transparent glass walkway. Yesterday it was a white throated sparrow. If you see a bird, DM us so we can input this data into the global bird collision mapper and advocate for a bird safe campus #makeuoftbirdsafe

There were over 3800 birds included in our Annual Bird Layout this year. These birds were collected during Spring and Fall Migration of 2022. The largest bird found was this female Wild Turkey, who shattered the window she collided with at an industrial building in Markham, ON.

Notice how many windows on @UofT campus have one or two bird decals stuck to them? Unfortunately, these do nothing to prevent birds from colliding into windows. If you spot a window that has decals, it is likely a problem window that has experienced bird strikes #birdsafeuoft

The Goldring Centre at 100 Devonshire Pl @UofTSportandRec has a wall of windows, as well as glass railings. There are bird safe dots here, but they have been applied to the inside of the windows, are spaced more than 2” apart providing no contrast. #birdsafeuoft
