When you are moving with devotional haste from one church to another on Good Friday and the Metro arrives as you arrive on the platform. That. @NclDiocese #Godishelpfulsometimes

This in Calais every morning at 7am. So in a place of so much despair and unkindness there is hope.

I have come to Etty Hillesum late in the day, but this written from Holland in the 1940s says with great clarity what I think I have suspected for some while. It is much harder and more important to work with God on ourselves than to rail against others

Why has the Met banned a “Walk with Jesus” in Tower Hamlets? What is the danger to Christians of proclaiming the Lordship of Christ in a London borough? Why may Christians not proclaim the gospel in Whitechapel? If there's “a risk of violence and disorder”, from whom, and why?

@JustAdaugoijele It always strikes me as an intersting irony that for the first time in the history of the Church when people can easily travel to every corner of the world the Mass no longer has a universal language!

One of my favourite things about the Catholic church is that no matter what country I'm in, there's a space where I'm welcomed, and I know the service by heart. The Mass may sound different but feels exactly the same. That's how I know that I am home.

London Heathrow Airport (c.1966) A remarkable time capsule, from the 1/- (5p) spectator parking & street signs to the astonishing variety of aircraft on show - no wonder plane spotting was a big thing at the time. Not to mention the mechanical Dalek ride on the roof garden!

@AnneEBailey1 am wondering why The Angel is defined as "secular"? There is good evidence I believe that it is a place of significant spirituality and that some people come on pilgrimage to it for clearly spiritual/religious reasons

6/8. And then, of course, there were two secular pilgrimages to: 1. The Angel of the North 2. Stonehenge for the summer solstice

As the year draws to a close, here is a short thread highlighting some of the 48 pilgrimages I've taken in 2025. It includes holy wells, saints' shrines, abbeys and priories, cathedrals, Anglo-Saxon crypts, pilgrimage walks, and numerous churches ... 1/8

@SwPrayer I am not sure who stabbed her is relevant. Sister has been stabbed and needs our prayers as does her attacker that God will turn their heart

Sang “Be still for the presence of the Lord” at church this morning. Always reminds me of the first ordination of female priests at @CovCathedral in May 1994. Unforgettable and profoundly moving. @BishopMark1 will remember.
