All the great filmmakers I know unapologetically weaved their politics into their craft. Bureaucrats and governments have repeatedly lost their shit over their films. Abolished and banned them. Or just made them unwatchable via CBFC bullies. By going extra miles and undergoing plenty of harrassement, these filmmakers were able to release films in their rawest version. #Dhurandhar duology is what when a filmmaker is given free reign by those in politics and bureaucracy. When you're "allowed" to be your true self and show your politics in the truest form, the world gets something greater than usual. Many filmmakers didn't have that chance recently. Many projects are pending because they don't align with Narendra Modi's idea of India. If you celebrate @AdityaDharFilms, then it's time you demand the authorities to be equally liberal toward filmmakers that don't align with the current government. You'll see greater films like Dhurandhar, then and able to understand counter-narratives before blindly supporting one side over the other. Let's not forget, before Aditya Dhar, there was a Dibakar Banarjee. Every storyteller matters.
