The government’s job is not to dole out money for social programs ie welfare. That is what free childcare is, and that is what paid child leave from the government is. We need to stop looking to the government for all of this because that is one of our core problems. Why do you think we’ll never cut spending in any substantive way? Why do you think our debt will always continue to rise? It’s not just because “Congress refuses to cut spending.” It’s also because many voters always want more money from the government in some way, shape, or form. We need to start demanding less “assistance” from the government and demanding more personal responsibility from our citizenry.
