Just a heads up, you won't be seeing much from me on here anymore. If you like my stuff, join my mailing list to get plenty of it: bitfieldconsulting.com/subscribe I'm also in that other place we don't talk about (you know the one) as 'bitfieldconsulting'. It's mostly been a pleasure!

This one’s a bit dated, but it’s a great reminder of Go’s design philosophy. Simplicity, readability, and pragmatism over cleverness. Always worth revisiting! #golang 📝 The Tao of Go: 🔗 bitfieldconsulting.com/posts/tao-of-go

‘Graydon Hoare described Rust as “technology from the past, come to save the future from itself”. He wanted to build, not a new, exciting, and experimental programming language, but a solid, boring, reliable language, based on proven ideas that work.’ bitfieldconsulting.com/books/rust-too…

”For probably 80% of the software we write, Go gets the job done just fine. Rust, on the other hand, neatly fills the gaps where Go isn’t an ideal choice: kernels, firmware, embedded devices, real-time systems.“ bitfieldconsulting.com/posts/rust-and…

@AntonyMerleDev Yes, there's nothing praiseworthy about “speaking your mind”. A toddler can do that (and they do, all the time). It takes a grown-up to know when silence is the right thing to say.

@bitfield there are a lot of people taking pride in speaking their mind / being rude (same thing) i value politeness so much more because in the end it drives one towards more balanced behavior, and in retrospect better alignment with one's true self

“Never think that being polite is a sign of weakness,” Chen said. “It is really a sign of great strength. When people are rude, they expose their weaknesses. When we are polite, our enemies cannot see our weaknesses.” bitfieldconsulting.com/posts/being-a-…
