Spoke to a group of 45 Year 11 Ag students last week. Asked the question ‘when you leave school how many plan to work on a beef operation (up north)’ 25 said yes. How many are going jackerooing or onto a sheep place, no one put their hand up. What’s the answer to change this ?

I want to buy a generator that will run a 180amp Mig welder. Any brands, shops, price points I should consider. Tia

@sean_zimm @Thomo_Grant You could also add different oval shape and sizes along with some teams playing lots of dry weather games under a roof.

@Thomo_Grant A compromised draw. Part time officials. A draft this is always compromised. It’s a brilliantly ran sport!

Look, seriously at the end of the day it’s just a Mickey Mouse competition…..a national pastime. It’s not that important. The real objective is funding a dozen AFL execs a million bucks a year. Only sport in the world that best performers are outstripped by execs administering game for annual salary’s. Can’t be taken too seriously. 🙄

Great to see Lamb Rumps becoming trendy again in top end restaurants. Just need the forequarter to become as sexy.

Protein for Hot Pots comes in every form. This dish is beef fat served at a top restaurant. Clearly evident the value of a China license for processing plants.

@cropmad I heard a story the other day, one big manufacturer in Aus, said, we’ll easily go net zero. Well just move operations overseas.

@matt_glennen If you’re worried about prussic acid, add high sulphur lick blocks when grazing.

Had a very staggered germ on our sorghum. Plan was to graze but didn’t happen due to the Prussic acid risk. Will be taking as silage but unsure if too take now or let seed set occur. Any experience would be appreciated.

@KirstenDiprose They say, 90% of statistics are made up on the spot but Rural directions did a project for GRDC on the habits of the top 20% of grain farmers in 2017. It showed 80% of the top 20% had no tertiary education. I do agree that people with a degree seem more polished and articulate.

🤔firming up a belief that the best people in Ag tend to have an Ag science degree. They don’t always stay in that field, but wherever they go… they’re stars. They get it - whether that’s on farm, in industry or research. Shout out to the Ag science peeps!! #AgTwitter

A global potato shortage has hurt chip lovers' wallets. The price of frozen potato products, including fries, increased by a third last year. And with no end in sight, this potato shortage might turn potato famine.

At age 25, you give your hedge fund manager $100K to manage, and he produces an annual return of 8%. Assuming a 1.5% management and 20% performance fee, by the time you retire at 65, you will have $764K. But the manager will have $1.24M (at zero initial investment!)
