@bjhinkle @CodyLendonNS @TailosiveTech 1. I’ve seen a 40Gbps USB4 magnetic cable. 2. Charging speed is the same on the MBP 16 — up to 140W. 3. MagSafe uses USB-C and can’t go beyond that.

@bjhinkle @TailosiveTech That’s completely besides the point that if you have dogs or a kid, if they step on or trip on the cable the magnet just gets pulled off instead of damaging your charger or port

@TailosiveTech I always charge all my stuff up while I pack before travel for work. Seeing the green light lets me know it’s time to throw it in the backpack 🎒. Just one less step (opening to check) before a long flight.

@bjhinkle Honestly I'm never like sitting around waiting for it to be full. I'm usually working on it while charging or if it's charging while closed I'm not actively looking at it

@TailosiveTech I suspect the iPad is the only reason they have not added cellular to MacBooks yet. I think that would heavily cannibalize iPad sales. Honestly, that’s the only reason I have an iPad is for cellular VPN while on the run. A Neo with LTE would instantly replace that for me.

@brandenflasch Seems like everyone took note of the positive aspects of OpenClaw. I like that these things are being implemented by the big players that have a bigger reason to ensure security as a first principle. Hopefully…

@TheNateSykes @clawrence @brandenflasch That’s why haven’t strayed from Tesla. The charging/tripping experience is truly unmatched in the US. The ID4 is better put together though. Solid.

@bjhinkle @clawrence @brandenflasch I road tripped my ID4 from Boston to FL to Tx and Canada. And never had an issue. Its speed was slow by current standards (although my Niro is slower) & I rarely was bothered by it. I drive 100s of miles a day, daily and that’s where charging speed becomes an issue (RIP my I5)

Lots of talk of new BYD EV charging specs. I can charge my Tesla Model 3 at a super charger from low to ‘how-much-I-need-to-get-home’ in the time it takes me to walk into Buc-ee’s, take a leak, get an iced tea, and walk back to my car.

The corner case exception I’ve run into is deep rural trips where there really are no convenient DCFC options. I’ll install Gen3 wall connectors at friends and family houses when I run into that. Like on remote farms. That helps, but if you arrive low and have an emergency that requires getting to a distant hospital, that’s not great. (Actual thing that happened for me)

@bjhinkle @clawrence @TheNateSykes Neither have I. I've been to every state in the lower 48 in a Tesla and many of them were visited in 2020-2021 with a Model S 70D (barely 150 miles of real range)

@clawrence @brandenflasch @TheNateSykes One of my favorite things about driving a Tesla is that I don’t have to look for a gas station or a charging station. It does all that automatically. I find it better than looking for gas stations I preferred.

I felt that way for 3 years of having an EV+ICE. We never ran into any situation where a gas car was the better choice. I think dual fuel is the way to transition. New EV owners have a safety net that way. We have now been EV-only for 4 years. We don’t have many power outages though. I can see that being a factor. Though solar or natural gas generator backup solves that.

@bjhinkle @brandenflasch @TheNateSykes I don't think it's just public perception. I have a Tesla Model 3 and we just got my wife an ICE for our 2nd car in part for long road trips where I just don't want to deal with planning for charging on the way or at our destination. We maybe do two or three of those a year.

@brandenflasch @TheNateSykes @clawrence This is the issue. Public perception. People are concerned about non-issues for 99% of situations. I’ve yet to be truly inconvenienced by charge times (other than V2 SC). There is a small demographic that truly needs faster charges/more range though.

@BeardedTesla They replaced my PCS2 last month. I assume that means there are 2 of them? Wonder if I need to get the other replaced if so. April 2024 build.
