@greglaurie Thanks for sharing your story. I lost my son, Darian, 4 years ago at age 18 due to a heart condition. He was very outspoken about his faith and his belief in Jesus as his Savior. I miss him everyday, but look forward to seeing him again.

It has been 16 years since my son Christopher was called home to Heaven unexpectedly to Heaven. July 24, 2008 was a sunny day, and my wife Cathe was doing a little Bible study with Christopher’s wife, Brittany and her mother Sheryll. I was watching Christopher and Brittany’s daughter, Stella, age 2. Then we heard the news. Our 33 year old first born son was gone. He died in an automobile accident. There is no way to prepare yourself for sudden and tramatic loss like that. It was devastating. It’s like time stood still and all the air in the room was sucked out. But God was with us. And needless to say, He still is of course. We had a Crusade scheduleded only 2 weeks after. Many wondered if I would show up, much less speak. It was never in doubt in my mind. Especially to call people to Christ. I know Christopher would have wanted me to do that. People sometimes ask me, “Do people in Heaven know what’s happening on earth, and do they watch over us? The answer is yes and no. While the Bible does not indicate people in the afterlife watch over us in this life there are a number of passages that would indicate certain things that happen on earth are known in Heaven.
Jesus said, “There is more joy in Heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” (Luke 15:7) 
That shows a specific cause and effect’ between Heaven and Earth. One lost sinner repents. . .  there is rejoicing in Heaven! So, I spoke at that Harvest Crusade of 2008 and felt great comfort from God.
Often, when we are hurting, one of the best things you can do is focus on the pain and needs of others. I just spoke at the Harvest Crusade of 2024 last Saturday. We saw over 5000 make professions of faith to follow Jesus. Heaven rejoiced again with all of us. I miss my son Christopher every day. His laugh, his insights, his simple joy in living. But he is living still. In Heaven. And our family will see him again. Yes, we still grieve, but not hopelessly, but rather hopefully. (1 Thes. 4:13) One person defined hope as an acronym. H.O.P.E. Holding On with Patient Expectation. 
And that is what we are doing. We will continue with our Father’s business until we too are called to Heaven. That is what our son would want us to do and we know it is what our Heavenly Father wants us to do. \

Now that I’ve watched The Zone of Interest, I’ve seen all of the supposed best movies of 2023, and in my opinion, I saved the best for last. It was an unsettling, haunting masterpiece.
