Income tax revenue has exploded from €9bn to €37bn a year in 2025. €28bn more every year. 22% of taxpayers pay 80% of all Income Tax & USC. The people who go to work every day & fund this State are being fleeced in every pay packet to bankroll people who contribute nothing.

@EmployRightsIE And the unemployment rate is currently under 5% (best ever in 2023 3.8%) but social welfare has sky rocketed. In comparison to 15-18% unemployment rate in the 2010s when the workers needed a dig out & after the bail out. That chart just highlights the complete incompetence

Government released detailed expenditure data today. Ireland’s yearly social welfare bill has exploded from €9bn to €43bn. That is a €34bn increase and a 370% surge. Even in the last 3 years alone it is up €6.4bn. This is completely out of control.

Think Michael Healy-Rae the wealthiest TD in the Dáil, is a man of the people? Lets have a gander at this cutest-of-hoors staggering finances and property portfolio.... He declared 14 houses for letting in Kerry, three guest houses, one rented commercial unit, a vacant premises, an apartment for letting, an unspecified number of apartments in a separate development, an unspecified number of rooms for letting, and student accommodation in Limerick. That's before you get to the rest. Based on CSO median property price data for December 2025, his residential and guest house portfolio is estimated to be worth around €5.6 million. Twelve properties in the Killarney, Kilgarvan, Kenmare and Barraduff area, where the median house price sits at €332,500, give a rough valuation of €3.99 million. Then his six properties in the Tralee and Castleisland area, with a median of €270,000, add another €1.62 million on top. The actual figure could be higher or lower. The register isn't that specific. On the rental income side, 14 Kerry two-bedroom houses at current market rents would generate €18,340 per month, or €220,080 per year. Daft.ie figures show listed monthly rents on two-bedroom houses in Kerry rose 7.3 per cent last year to €1,310, with four-bedroom houses up 8.8 per cent to €1,879. Then there's the land. He owns 100 acres of farmland and forestry in Kilgarvan, another 42 acres of forestry, and a further 4 acres of farmland elsewhere in the area. Based on the most recent Sherry FitzGerald assessment of €14,125 per acre for southwest farmland, the 100-acre holding alone could be worth around €1.46 million. The Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers values Munster forestry at €6,960 per acre, putting the 40-acre forestry plot at approximately €278,000. His company Roughty Properties received €470,000 from the Department of Children in 2024 for Ukrainian accommodation, paid out month by month, €49,640 in March, €52,080 in April, and so on. He also draws income from Kerry County Council's rental accommodation and housing assistance payment schemes. He has been a landlord since he was 18. When he first entered the Dáil in 2011 he already owned 14 properties! The register shows 16 properties in 2016, 19 in 2018, 21 in 2020, 24 in 2022, and 28 for 2025, including his family home. Public records show none of the four companies he directs, Roughty Properties, Black Cap & Co, ML Healy-Rae Properties and Roughty Plant Hire, ever drew down a mortgage. The family plant hire business, now primarily run by his nephew Johnny Healy-Rae, recorded net assets of €4.6 million at the end of 2024. It received €501,000 for Kerry County Council work in 2025 and €384,000 in 2024. Cork County Council paid a further €334,135 across the same two years. Ah but sure begorrah, he doesn't care about money. He's a lovely wee hat and sure he only cares about de poor folk like you and me...

Was having a look through the Munster hurling round robin. Some stats (All obviously leaving out 2020/21): 6 years. 60 games in total. 51 had a winner. 9 draws. Clare & Limerick are equal on combined points (32) Cork & Waterford have never won 3 games or more in a year Tipp have drawn the same amount of games as Limerick have lost (6) 2019 is the only year there wasn't a draw Amount of times qualifying for the Munster final: Limerick (5), Clare (4), Cork (2), Tipp (1), Waterford (0) Tipp (2019) are the only team to win all 4 games. Tipp (2022) and Waterford (2019) are the only teams to lose all 4 games. Cork and Waterford have never finished top. Limerick (twice), Clare (three times) and Tipp (once) are the three to finish top. Waterford (4 times) and Tipp (twice) are the only teams to finish bottom. Three teams have finished 3rd. Ireland is one of the few countries anywhere in which real house prices are lower than 19 years ago. Also true of the UK (just). Prices across the OECD, when adjusted for general consumer price inflation, are up 25% over two decades.
Dan O'Brien tweet media
Dan O'Brien@danobrien20

Ireland has had the third highest house price increase in real terms (50%) in western Europe over the past decade, behind only Holland (56%) and Portugal (110%). In New Zealand and the UK, prices have been falling since 2021. In Australia, they fell back in 2021-23, but are rising again.

There is simply no political party in #Ireland currently that reflects the views of the majority of population on spending, taxation, immigration and the NGO industrial complex. It is no wonder people are so angry.

Below is just some of the examples in the past 12 months of our government dolling out hundreds of millions of our (the taxpayers) money to foreign countries while our personal income tax is the second highest in the world, our domestic energy is the second highest in the world, we are in the top 5 most expensive in Europe for petrol & diesel etc. etc. etc. They are ripping us off to either give our tax money to foreigners on foreign soil or foreigners on Irish soil. This list is verified against official government releases as of early April 2026 but there is more also 👇🏼 2025 Irish Aid programme: €810 million (development + humanitarian aid to over 100 countries). 2025 Humanitarian assistance: Over €330 million (record level, supporting crises in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, DRC, and climate disasters e.g. Sri Lanka/Vietnam). 2026 Irish Aid programme: €840 million (record increase). September 2025, Ukraine: €35.4 million package (€23.5M humanitarian, €11M recovery, €1M peace; part went to regional response in Moldova). December 2025, Ukraine: €125 million additional package (€100M non-lethal military support + €25M energy/reconstruction). Cumulative support to Ukraine since 2022 reached €467 million. December 2025, Global humanitarian (2025 total): Over €330 million across multiple crises. January 2026, Palestine/Gaza: €42 million announced for 2026 assistance (including €20M core to UNRWA); up from €36 million provided in 2025. January 2026, Ukraine: €25 million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund (for infrastructure, generators amid winter needs). February 2026, Uganda (Karamoja): €1.75 million bursary programme (part of €10.5M 2026 investment) to support 1,600 students' education costs. Uganda also receives ongoing multi-year development aid (education, health, climate, refugees) via Irish Aid. Many smaller/ongoing disbursements (e.g. to Sudan, or routine Uganda programmes) occur through multi-year partnerships and are not announced as standalone monthly figures. Full country-by-country breakdowns for 2025 will appear in the next Irish Aid Annual Report (expected later 2026). This list is verified against official government releases as of early April 2026.

A Cork Safety Alerts follower has reported spotting Hemlock Water Dropwort washed up on Front Strand beach in Youghal yesterday, Wednesday 18 March. A previous sighting was also reported at Mall beach in the town. This is one of Europe’s most toxic plants. Do not touch it and keep children and pets well away. If you or your pet have had any contact with it, seek medical or veterinary attention immediately.
