Until Artyom Levshunov (or Sam Rinzel) is ready to become a #1 defenseman in the NHL, it doesn't make a lot of sense for the trying-to-improve Blackhawks to trade Seth Jones. Column: chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/202…

@McLeanGolf Yes, bring on the carnage! Doubles, triples, quads. Knee high rough. Bikini waxed leading to water & other hazards. Fast, firm, rock hard greens.

@mrmckee How did it work for the rest of the Saudi contingent? Didn’t see Rahm or Brooks or Smith or Phil or DJ near the top of the leaderboard. 54 hole hit & giggles don’t get you ready.

Bryson DeChambeau was asked what has contributed to his recent success on the course & he said, "A lot more time. Having a lot more time back at home to work on my game." So yes, the LIV schedule (which allows that time) can prepare these guys for majors. #PGAChamp

@chambleebrandel I’ve never understood the fascination with either deforestation or the desire for every major to be a par making grind fest. What’s wrong with the best guys in the world making some birdies? I thought Valhalla was fine.

Courses that have been defanged by deforestation are generally very good for the members as club play is about having fun and getting around the course in under 4 hours, so cut the rough and trees. But if you want a thorough test for the very best players in areas that are prone to rainy and/or windless days…trees and/or rough are not only preferable they are a necessity. Xander Shauffele was very straight and hit more greens than anyone en route to winning. As did Tiger Woods in 2000 and Rory was the longest straightest driver in 2014… Valhalla puts a premium on skill off the tee, into and around the greens. Golf course architect geeks could not be more wrong in criticizing this golf course. It may not be the best course, but it has produced some of the best winners and majors so it’s quality must evade those who make it their job to judge such things and judge this course harshly.

@chambleebrandel If Ogilvy and his crew came in and renovated it like they did Medinah it would be great. The original architecture coupled with the flat greens equals no defense against the world’s best.

@acaseofthegolf1 I don’t miss Bryson. His, ‘I’m the smartest man in the room’, is exhausting. Didn’t like him before, less so now after he took the Saudi money.

Maybe I'm crazy for this but I'd say the PGA tour misses Bryson the most. He's weird at times, awkward at others, and says things he shouldn't. But he also wears his emotions on his sleeve, is fun to watch when he's in contention, and is must watch TV.

@BBGreatMoments Ty Cobb would disagree. That’s how baseball was played for 100 years. Chin music, taking guys out at 2nd on double plays, running over catchers. Baseball was never meant to be a non-contact sport.

I'm sorry, but there's no place for something like this in the game of baseball. There's a line between playing hard and playing like a dumba$$.

Big-time golf tournaments are more entertaining with Bryson DeChambeau in the mix. The power, the energy, the variance. I don’t know if that means the best of the best need to compete against each other more often or that majors are even more of a spectacle now, but this weekend was so much better with him involved.

If there's any confusion on the critiques of Valhalla, let Xander's second hole shine a light: Badly pulled drive toward the water, held up by the wide strip of rough separating the fairway from the penalty area. A second shot absolutely booking long of the green, catches the back bunker, and it funnels all the way down to the flat part, where he's left with a remarkably simple bunker shot considering the quality of his shots to that point. No depth to the bunker, and no punishment for playing the hole wrong. It did not take an exceptional recovery shot to make the recovery, and he makes an easy par on what has been the 3rd most difficult hole all week.

@raypaulick @randy_moss_TV And he wisely wasn’t calling for a DQ, just an inquiry. I’ve seen stewards in other jurisdictions throw an inquiry for less contact in a $5,000 claimer.

Jon Rahm no showing in two straight majors despite Top 10s in every LIV event. Hate it for my guy. Don’t care if it’s related or just variance, but … get it fixed. Majors are more fun when he’s in the mix. Legion XIII fans heartbroken today and I hate that for them.

@KVanValkenburg 1st season on LIV maybe he needs time to adjust (if that is at all the cause it could just be he isn’t at his best which can happen it’s golf). Look how well Brooks/Bryson are fairing ‘despite’ their move. Not worried about JR he’ll come good you’re giving a knee jerk reaction.

@pingreeth There’s no data basis for this argument. Every major LIV players over-index compared to the percentage of players in the field. Same pattern holding for PGA. LIV 10% of field but currently 20% of Top 10 and Top 20. People focus on one player to satisfy personal perspectives.
