BREAKING: The New York Times hits Donald Trump with a devastating Tuesday night bombshell, revealing that “Special Counsel Jack Smith subpoenaed surveillance footage from Trump’s Bedminster resort in New Jersey” just as he did for Mar-a-Lago. But it gets even worse for Trump… The New York Times continues, revealing that, “At one point in the early fall of last year, investigators went so far as to discuss executing a search warrant at Bedminster. Investigators were concerned that more documents were stashed at the club and the only way to account for them was to search the property.” Even worse for Trump, the New York Times reports that “the top counterintelligence official at the Justice Department told Trump’s legal team that prosecutors believed that he still had more classified materials in his possession,” at his New Jersey resort — but Trump still refused to give them back. Adding insult to injury, prosecutors say that Trump’s co-defendant in the case, Walt Nauta, loaded dozens of boxes of top secret documents from Mar-a-Lago onto a plane “that flew Trump and his family north for the summer” on the VERY SAME DAY that federal investigators showed up in Florida to collect all of the classified documents remaining there. I went to Mildenhall Air Show in the 80s three times. It was like visiting the USA for the day. Freshly cooked burgers, Budweiser from oil drums full of ice for a dollar and the constant smell of burnt avtur on the breeze. There was nothing like it & never will be again.

I’m reading ‘The Lantern Bearers’ by Rosemary Sutcliff, which I last read when I was in my teens. It’s hard to put down - beautiful, distinctive prose, a roaring plot and Charles Keeping’s dark and extraordinary illustrations.
