A4: When I first "got" online it was purely for sharing pictures with my folks of the kids - on Facebook. couldn't imagine anyone thinking I had something to offer... I may have thought that @blairteach was a little "crazy" wanting me on "Twitter." :-) #IDedchat

Just posing a question: In looking at levels (elem, MS, HS) do you think that the inequity in leadership is the same in all three areas? #edchat

@urban_teacher I have a personal objection to the word “empower.” It implies someone need to give us something. #edchat

We need to empower more women in education to become leaders. #edchat

I see lots of new teachers trying to rush into leadership after 1-3 years of teaching. Slow down you have another 35+ years to go! #edchat

Thanks Nancy @blairteach The literature usually says—generalizing!!!—women r more experienced when they become principals, know teaching & learning better & human relations, men focus on managing…certainly we all need to be instructional leaders first. What do u think? #edchat
Nancy Blair@blairteach

@HarveyAlvy1 Absolutely — as a generalization. Clearly there are exceptions, but I usually see a marked difference in the way we see things. #edchat

@ShiftParadigm Yes —women R fully capable of leading -they do it from/in the classroom all the time —over time we set up an edu work hierarchical expectation consistent w/typical family hierarchical expectation — & created barriers in work that advantage men 4 positional authority roles #edchat

NOW UNDERWAY... join #edchat Topic: Is there a problem in education with a majority of teachers being women and a majority of administrators being men?

Question often raised: Do men and women have different leadership styles? What do you think #edchat folks?
