Netflix has big plans for David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth—and honestly, they should! You’ve got Brad Pitt starring in a script by Quentin Tarantino, directed by Fincher. That’s superstar power you don’t want to waste. Back in October 2025, word dropped about a major theatrical rollout, and just weeks ago Netflix Film Chairman Dan Lin basically said, “Give us time” on their overall theater strategy. Shifting the release from summer to fall could be smart — more prep time for marketing, a shot at the Venice Film Festival premiere, and a solid theatrical run. For Netflix, theaters are basically a killer marketing stunt to get fans rushing back to the platform anyway. It's a win-win situation for everyone, including the fans.

I think movie critics want every kids movie to be like Toy Story - which is a great franchise. But some movies are just meant to be fun. Given that this is based on a video game series with weak lore and a focus on fun - the movie should represent that. Just a fun Nintendo romp. Also they did a great job making Fox looks cool. Really hope he gets his own movie.
